Rescued Table and Chairs Turned Vintage Farmhouse Milk and Cream Table

Since its Thursday Today I thought I would do a little
THROWBACK Thursday post.

So I am Reposting one of my Favorite posts from while back
as a Throwback!

Good Morning my Beauties!!!
Did you all have a good weekend?????
We had a very very busy weekend.
Remember me telling you its been the slow season at the booth?
Well that all changed in a weekend. I have had to bring furniture to my booth 3 days in a row..
and I am NOT complaining...but it meant I needed to get cracking on some more furniture..
BREAKS OVER...

I picked up this table and chair set on mega clearance at Goodwill..
$15 bucks for the set basically before it went to the furniture recyclers..AKA..
the wood chipper...

You can see why...BUT my heart knew it could be saved...I thought of all the other
furniture that ends up in the dump or wasted and I knew it was time to pull up my big girl panties
and prepare for some FAIRY GODMOTHER MAGIC!!
On the bonus side..I couldn't really make it look WORSE!!! :)

You can't even tell from the back HOW bad the top was, but once I started to sand
it really shows you how bad the wood...and I use the word WOOD in the loosest term possible when
referring this table top as wood.
Where the spots are is where all the RAISED spots were.I needed to bring it to a level area.

Once I got it a smooth as possible I decided that this table top was gonna need some sort of
graphic or something on the top. So I painted it with some
CE CE Caldwells Vintage white...and I painted the legs with
Beckly coal.

For the chairs I went all MAD SCIENTIST and just mixed a bunch of blues and creams I had to get
this smokey pale blue color. I wanted the table black and white, but you know I need color and
I knew making the chairs a different color would really  make it POP!
(Mind you this is after all the wood filler and sanding I had to do to cover up
what ever animal ate this table and chairs!)

This is where my Epiphany hit...
In the moment of trying to save this table and make it beautiful again, I knew I instantly wanted it to have a vintage feel...and I had just done that vintage MILK AND CREME window..

well how much cooler would that look in a larger size on a table???
I had to find out.
So I used my silhouette to cut it out again, this time on a much larger scale.
I painted it in with black paint and when
everything was dry I distressed it and Poly'd the top!!

Oh and I had to show the chairs a little lovin, so I added numbers to them too..:)

And there you have it...What once was almost in the garbage and beaten up and
abused...

Now has a second chance...And honestly....If I didn't need a table for 6..
This SOOOOO would have been MINE!!!!  LOL!!

"SPRINGTIME IN PARIS" 80'S Vanity turned Vintage Shabby French

Good Morning my Beauties. 

I have a fun and Frenchy Makeover for you today!

I picked up this cute little vanity at a the local thrift shop.

It was cute with the little round bench but it was missing the back 

part. I had the perfect Idea.

I had a board out in my garage and I just happened to have 

my Rockwell BladeRunner X2 that I have been itching to try out.

I measured my board and used my saw which cut like butter to get the perfect size.

I screwed it into the back and was ready to get painting

I knew I was gonna do a vintage french feel so I went with Maison Blanche

Jolie Blonde for my first coat.

I put on the first coat and waited for it to dry.

Next up it was time for my FAVORITE.

Maison Blanche La Chaux

in Printemps.

The Beauty of the Maison Blanche French Lime paint,

is that it is a  a traditional Lime Paint made of pure, European Lime, mixed with natural pigments. The result is a eco-friendly, zero VOC paint product made with minimally processed natural ingredients that will allow you to turn your walls into art and to paint furniture with stunning results.

It is highly alkaline, so it's naturally resistant to fungus and mold as well as being anti-bacterial. This feature makes it ideal for bathrooms, kitchens and children's rooms. 

La Chaux is more textural than chalk based paints. Lime Paints have been used for over seven thousand years and have even been found applied to the insides of pyramids! This is a very traditional European product and gives the look of multiple layers of paint with only one coat.  I think you will see in the post what I am talking about.

 After the La Chaux dried I finished it off with the Vintage clear wax.

Once dried I buffed it to a beautiful finish.

I also recovered the dirty old cream seat with

this adorable gold and pink fabric.

In order to bring it all together I sprayed the original hardware with 

a gold spray paint.

I think you will agree it pulled the whole thing together.

I love how you can see the blonde jolie peaking through the printems,

accented by the gold hardware.

Now the only real difficulty.

Trying to decide if I keep or sell.

Shabby Chic French Master Bedroom Makeover under $175

I can't believe its been almost a year since I redid my bedroom.
Since we have had TONS of snow..and SNOW days, I have had no time to work.
So for your viewing pleasure I thought I would hit REPLAY on this makeover from last year.
I still love this room and it still makes me feel like a princess when I am in there..(at least when its clean..LOL)
Good Morning my Beauties!
This was another Doozie of a post....
I wonder how many times I say that...They all seem to be doozies..:)
I hadn't PLANNED on redoing our master bedroom, BUT..you know how things go..
I had painted our bedroom about 2 years ago...bought a new comforter..but put all the other stuff right back in...ever since then I haven't been feeling it..
We have had our 4 poster Queen Anne Rice bed since we got married..
I loved it as it was a pedestal bed (very high off the ground)
but I had been craving a lighter, shabbier...Frenchier bedroom..

So as many stories start..".it started early one morning"...I saw this BEAUTY ON craigslist for
$50.....Thats it...She had to be mine...I could already see it in my mind how shabby and
beautiful she would be.
Of course when I finally went to pick up the bed the guy had some "someone offered me $65 for it so if you still want it, its gonna be $65 instead of $50)
Now normally if I had been planning on reselling it I would have told him to
"kiss my grits" but since it was for me..I knew I would NEVER find a deal like this for MY bed.
My daughter and I crammed it into the back of my suburban with one of the legs sticking out of the back window like a giant fish hook...I had to make sure I didn't catch any other cars on my way home..

 I set it up right away in the garage and as soon as my daughter and I got it out of the car
It started to downpour...(whew..close one) and since it was unseasonably warm...I started to paint!!
(well and the fact that I am INCREDIBLY impatient)...:)

Speaking of Impatient....this was at 8:30 am the next morning....my older girls had late start that morning and
they helped me dismantle my HUGE poster bed and get it into the hallway..
and help me put this together before they left for school.
(since I used the Ce Ce Caldwells Vintage white on it, it was dry when Hubby got home from
Lab at the University..he helped me carry the headboard up  that first night cause I knew there
was NO WAY I was gonna be able to wait for him to get home from work the next day to get started on my room.
Once I got it set up..I put my wax on and waited for it to cure while I went tearing apart the rest of the room.

Now just for those of you that like the "keeping it real" thing..
This is real life..this is what my antique dresser looked like..My dumping ground for all my jewelry
and what ever else makes its way there...(just in case you think I am nuts and keep my house clean 24-7)  Ask my hubby he will let you know...that's not true..LOL.

Here is my bed in all her glory...I got the vintage damask dust ruffle at goodwill for $2..ack..
and the handmade afghan for the same price...2 of the cream shams..$2...I mean Seriously!
The quilt and the shams I got at my booth from another vendor for $60
All the furniture..the end tables....Free from a dumpster dive..(I went and shopped my own booth)
That was a riot watching the girls that work there laugh at me as I tore apart my 2 booths to get my nightstands..

 

The armoire.....FREE...yup you heard me...F....R...E....E...
one of my favorite 4 letter "F" words.. :)
I will do that post next week...It used to be an entertainment center
and I turned it into my own little FRENCH wardrobe!!

 My dumpster dive Nightstand...:)

My Chaise..that I have had...for over a year now..(which I got at Goodwill for $24 bucks)
I had to steam clean the heck out of it..but it was worth it..

and Hubbys dumpster dive night stand..

and my nice clean dresser...(for now) who am I kidding...it will end up looking the same..LOL..
but for now I am enjoying it...:)
Total cost..(not including the chaise, cause I already had that)
$171 .....Can you believe it..I am still in awe..
I never thought I would be able to have a new bed and furniture for that..
(although I did pay a ton in sweat equity)
Its worth it...I crawled into my bed that first night and
slept like a shabby chic French princess...LOL

80's Oak Bow front China Cabinet TURNED Vintage

Good Morning my Beauties! 

Well I can tell you right now, on our kids first day back to school,

they have a SNOW DAY! :) They are so excited...me....well, I had planned on getting some projects 

done once they all went back to school. Looks like I have to wait another day or two..:)

Luckily before all the snow started flying and the temps dropped into the negatives

I finished this project. I had planned on selling it but the minute I brought it into 

the house to photograph it the family made a unanimous decision...It was staying...:)

Another project that ended up being a KEEPER!

I nabbed this HANDMADE custom Bow font Corner China Cabinet

at Goodwill! I couldn't believe it. It was all handmade. Someone had made this for someone and they had donated it to Goodwill..I was in awe. Now I was not in love with the oak, and it was not in great shape finish wise but that was something  that I knew I could change!

I lightly sanded where any finish was coming up and started painting.

I custom mixed a couple different mineral paints that I had and started at it.

I painted the inside a custom blue green and the outside a creamy white.  Once it was dry I distressed just a few areas, waxed and buffed it.

I wanted the appearance that this was a really old piece.

I think I achieved that and I am so happy with the new piece of furniture I had not planned on keeping.
