Simple Stencilled Side table MAKEOVER

roadside rescue small stencilled side table makeover removing veneer stencilled diy project
Welcome back my Beauties!
Sorry I have been so absent lately.
A year ago my Mom got sick and we lost her a few months later.
I basically have been kind of floating through the last few months trying to re navigate my life without her.
I feel like I am living in an alternate world sometimes.
Our lives have gone back to somewhat normal routine, yet something is always missing.
What makes it hard is that I also have so many makeovers that I was working on when she got sick, so to sit down and start going through these projects is a little difficult.
It brings me back to when we were dealing with so much yet still trying to get my work done to sell at my booth.
I have to say seeing these projects is getting a little easier and I am finally ready to start showing what I was working on back then.
Mostly because my momma LOVED a good project.
The worse it was in the beginning the better.
This is one of those projects.

My father in law had picked this old sad table up out of someones trash. He wasn't sure I could do anything with it, but once he saw my face when he gave it to me, he knew it was a mistake to doubt me. :)
The veneer was in awful shape but I knew from experience it just needed a little elbow grease and that stuff would be gone in moments.
I started by prying off the loose veneer and then using the soaking method to loosen what was left.

Once I got it all scraped off I could move on to making her pretty.

While the top was drying I painted the whole base of the table with
paint.

Then for the fun part. I grabbed my
PAISLEY STENCIL and using the same mint paint from the base I stencilled the top of the table.
I was in love with the dark and light contrast.
I spray sealed the whole piece when it was dry.

I love how the stencil on top of the dark wood brought the whole piece together.

I still can't believe this was the same table that someone had thrown in the trash.

But as usual, those are always my favorite makeovers!

I still can't believe the difference.
I also find it funny that I have never seen another table like this before.
I have seen a lot of furniture in my day, but none like this.
If you have any idea what it was called I would love to know!
In the next few weeks I will be show a few more makeovers from last summer.
It takes me a little longer to go through the pictures to edit, but hopefully I am still making my momma proud.
Until next time,
Have a BEAUTIFUL day.

Gold Stencilled Round Table Makeover~Themed Furniture Makeover

Welcome back my Beauties!
I am excited to be back again to show off another makeover.
This Makeover is part of our Themed Furniture Makeover Group.

Every month a bunch of my bloggy friends and I
all follow a theme and work on transforming pieces of furniture
according to the months theme.
This months theme was SHADES OF WHITE.

Now those of you that have followed me over the years know that
I don't very often paint things white.
I am all about color so I tend to leave the white paint to other bloggers.
I will admit that this was fun because I don't normally DO WHITE.
Being that I love fun and color I tried to figure a way I could
still have fun and be funky while painting something WHITE.
I picked up the simple and fun little beat up table at the thrift shop.
As you can see it was already white, but it needed to be refreshed.
Someone had previously LOVED this table a little bit.

I grabbed my Americana Decor Chalky Finish Everlasting White and got to giving it a couple fresh coats of paint.  Once the paint was dry I decided to grab my Americana harlequin stencil
and lay it on the top of the table using my stencil brush and some Gold Luster Craft paint.

I waited for each section to dry before laying the stencil back down to finish off the top.
After that I coated the edge in the same gold paint and the little bit at the top under the table base just
to Jazz it up a little.

Just that little bit of gold changed the whole look of the piece.
So I got to paint something white, but still keep it fun and funky
in my own style.

I hope you enjoyed this makeover and I hope you
pop on over to all my Blogger Friends pages too to see what
they painted in Shades of White.
I am sure they will not disappoint.

Custom Built DIY Industrial Table Using Rescued Materials

Hello again my BEAUTIES!
Its time for this months THEMED FURNITURE MAKEOVER!
This months THEME  is Industrial

Now if you remember back a bit, you may remember me building this.
Well While I was building that, my hubby in a frenzy to use up all the left over
rescued wood we had (including these legs)
decided to build this little table.
Its basically the same sort of build as the above farm house table but on a much smaller level
and with no overhang on the apron.
Well when I was done I saw the table and thought..now what should I do to it.
This project just happened to coincide with me needing a project with our Themed Furniture Makeover group..so I thought..HOW CAN I MAKE THIS INDUSTRIAL???
I painted the legs and stained the top all while trying to see what I would do next.
Well, again in my scrap/rescue pile I had these corner brackets. They had been sitting for a while and I thought..."how about I add them to the corners of the table to give it a more industrial look"
I screwed the brackets on all four corners, distressed the legs and waxed and buffed them
and then fell in love with how it all came together.
This little table made from a pile of scraps and leftovers
was now a fun and functional piece of furniture.
I brought it in to my booth and it sold the same day.
So hopefully someone else loved it just as much as I did. :)
I can't wait to see what my friends do.
Make sure you POP on over to see what they did with this months THEME!
Until next time,
Go make someones day BEAUTIFUL

Black and White Striped SASSY end table. An INSPIRED by Project

Good Morning my Beauties!
Its time for another version of
Themed Furniture Makover.
This is where myself and some blogger friends get together
for a little group project.
This months THEME was "INSPIRED BY"
I have to tell you...I had a bit of trouble with this project.
I went on to Pinterest to be inspired and would get lost and forget what I was doing. :)
It happens to the best of us.

Well, this was the table I was starting with.
I had yet to be inspired while trying to decide what I was going to do when I came upon
this adorable table on Pinterest.
It was created by.

Well the project was inspired by..not COPY
so I had to figure my own little TWIST on it.
I started by painting the top white and the legs and base a custom green I had mixed up.
While I was waiting I had to figure out how I wanted to do my lines.

I didn't want to do exact equal stripes so I did a pattern stripe instead.
I used some black and gray mixed paint and painted on my stripes.
When it was dry I distressed and waxed the heck out of it..and then buffed the heck out of it.
It gave it a nice vintage feel.

I even replaced the big old hardware with this simple little pull.
I mean the table had enough going on...It didn't need to go overboard on hardware.
I will tell you, that I struggled A LOT with this piece.
I am my own person..
I am a loud person..
I have no filter...
I have a very specific laugh...
I mean...people can not see me in the store..but they hear me laugh and they say..
I hear KARIN!!
I used to hate it..but I have grown to love it..
and the same goes for this table..
Its loud..its out there...
It does not fit in with the NORMAL.
Just like ME..
So a project that was causing me so much grief..
because I was worried, my piece in the roundup was going to give people a headache.
or make them go blind...LOL
Has now made me incredibly Happy..
For all the same reasons I worried about.
Life is funny that way isn't it.

Just like the sign says...
"be the most BRILLIANT color in the box"

I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover...
and the little behind the scenes of my "one of a kind laugh"
Until Next time..Go make someones day BEAUTIFUL..
