Mandala Painted Table Makeover

BEFORE round wood table rescued worn turned boho chic mandala artwork table
Welcome back again my Beauties!
I am once again playing catch up with makeover posts.
I have had this little table sitting in my basement, PAINTED for a few months now.
But never had a chance to photograph it.
But we finally got a sunny day here in MICHIGAN and I was finally able to get some pictures.
So here without further ado is my Mandala Painted Table Makeover.

You can see from the first picture that the table was in rough shape.
All but a tiny piece of the original veneer was left on the top which only took a swipe with a putty knife to get off.
Once I did that I just sanded the top and got ready to paint.
I decided to mix up a custom charcoal gray paint for the base and gave that a couple coats.
Once it was dry it was time to pull out one of my new favorite stencils.
You may remember I showed you how to make some DIY MANDALA ARTWORK a few weeks back.
Well I decided to use that same stencil for this table top.

Since the table was a charcoal gray, I decided I wanted to make the mandala POP so I chose a color I very very RARELY use!
PINK..
I am not a PINK girl but I just loved how it plays so well with deep grays.
Since I didn't want it to be ALL PINK I just did an OMBRE effect and gradually added white as I worked my way to the center of the stencil.

And this was how it turned out.
I sealed the top with some satin poly
and it was good to go.

I have to say it felt good to step out of my comfort zone of color choices.
BEFORE AND AFTER MANDALA STENCIL HAND PAINTED ROUND TABLE MAKEOVER

I mean, you know how much I love COLOR but some colors just aren't my normal,
and it was really fun to try something different.
Life would get pretty boring otherwise.

Hand painted furniture. Boho style. Mandala design. Bohemian furniture.
I hope this post inspired you to
go outside of your normal
and try something new.
You will be glad you did.

Just as long as you don't forget to keep stopping by here
after you tried something new!
:)
Until next time,
Thanks for making my day BEAUTIFUL!

Mint and Paisley Lace Farmhouse Style Dresser Makover

This post uses affiliate links to help you find the products I trust and love

Welcome back my Beauties!
Its time for another DIY FURNITURE GILR'S
Themed Furniture Makeover.
This months theme is Farmhouse style.
I saw this piece and I just knew this would be my piece.

Now bear with me on this post because there are a TON of pictures.
This dresser was one of those dressers that lets you know who is going to be in CHARGE,
and it was most definitely NOT me!
This piece came from an estate sale and I can only imagine that it had spent many many years in the garage as a multi purpose Crap Catcher and storage unit.
You can see from the top that parts of the veneer were falling off and other parts had just worn right down to the wood underneath.

Lucky for me, veneer doesn't scare me...unless you think you are just gonna strip off the beat up veneer on the top and then find all this knotty worm wood underneath.
(Head slap)

So this meant I had to go to my supply of iron on veneer.
I replaced the nasty veneer that I had stripped of and used my iron to iron on new veneer where the most damaged pieces were.

Then I sanded them down even with the old veneer.
You can see from this photo where the 3 worst spots were.
Now for the other parts that had damaged veneer I decided that the worm wood would look good with the farmhouse style. I grabbed my Heat gun and started stripping off the damaged veneer from the front of the dresser.

You can see here what a mess it was but it was starting to look way better to me.
After stripping off veneer and putting on veneer the piece was finally ready.

Here you can see the piece all ready to be made pretty!

Now I was ready to start the transformation.
I grabbed some Walnut Rustoleum stain for the drawer fronts.
I stained those and when they were dry I grabbed my Paisley lace stencil and some acrylic cream paint and stenciled the pattern down the fronts of the drawers.
Once the paint was dry I lightly distressed them and sealed them with Rust-oleum Polyurethane in Satin
For the paint I chose Faux Real Mineral paint in Brava. It was a nice light mint colored green that has a fresh feel to it.
After it was all waxed and buffed it was time to add the new white and gold knobs.
I still can't even believe this is the same piece from the picture
at the top of the post.
I love the mix of of wood and paint and pattern.

Don't think the thought of keeping this for myself didn't cross my mind.
But alas, I took it to my booth in Changing Thymes and it sold.
One less temptation. :)

I hope you guys enjoyed this latest makeover and I hope you pop
on over to my fellow Bloggy friends to see what Farmhouse Style
Makeovers they did.

Kitchen Cabinet Makeover BEFORE!

Hello my BEAUTIES!
I have been working on my kitchen cabinet makeover for a while.
Today I am going to show you the Before.
The above picture was the last time I redid my cabinets.
It was way back in 2012...:)
You can see that post HERE.
It was even PRE my Farmhouse Table...
THAT is how long ago it was.
Now I LOVED my kitchen cupboards but it was time for a change.
I had used a mineral paint and used a sealer but they were starting to show some wear and tear.

My kids love to cook, and I LOVE it when they do,
but they are messy and were a little hard on the mineral paint on
the cupboards.
That meant it was time for a change.
Now as you I am sure have guessed, I have done this MANY, MANY times.
The normal way to do this is to take off the cupboards paint them and put them back up...
BUT I AIN'T GOT TIME FOR THAT!
(just keeping it real here folks)
Sometimes in the DIY world you gotta do what you gotta do.
With our busy schedule I worked out a way to paint them WITHOUT taking them down.
Here you can see me trying to decide what the exact color was that  I wanted to go with.
I removed the hardware, Lightly sanded down the cupboards and wiped them all clean.
I was mixing paint and seeing how it looked DRY before I went full Throttle
and painted them all.

After seeing how seeing how it looked this is what I finally chose.
I went with General Finishes
Queenstown Gray and
their Satin High Performance finish.
I can't WAIT to show you the AFTER.
The makeover has been done almost a month now and I LOVE it.
I wanted to make sure it could stand the test of my CHILDREN
before I showed it to you.
I can tell you it HAS.
So be sure to come back next week for the REVEAL of the finished Kitchen Cupboard Makeover.
Until then,
Go Make Someones Day BEAUTIFUL.

The Golden Elephant! Navy and Gold Tribal Aztec Desk Makeover

Good Morning my Beauties.
I have a fun makeover for you guys today.
Now I have plenty of other pieces photographed that I could have blogged about
but I was just having way to much fun with this one to not show the transformation
as soon as the paint was dry.
My sister picked this desk up for me at a garage sale for $7.
I loved the simple design of the desk....and the cheap cheap price. :)

I decided I wanted to funky it up a little but I wasn't quite sure
how I wanted to do that yet...
So I just started painting.
I grabbed my american Navy blue Born on the 4th of July paint
and got to work.

Once it was painted It looked awesome but I still wanted to add some FUNK.
So I grabbed my Americana Tribal Aztec stencil and some gold paint
and got to work.

I had already spray painted these fun Elephant knobs from hobby lobby
and the gold stencil kind of brought it all together.

I even did some fun geometric stenciling along the fronts of the drawers
where the elephant knobs were placed.

I love how it all came together...all funky and gold and navy!
My daughter was already trying to steal it. :)
I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover.
Until next time,
go make someones day Beautiful!
