Not so PERFECT Vintage Desk and Free Vanity Bench Makeover

Hitting REPLAY on an old post.
ENJOY!

Good Morning My Beauties!
Last night I asked on FACEBOOK if you guys would like to see
NOT SO PERFECT posts.
You guys said yes...SO here is the first one.
Last night I explained that when I get super busy, I don't have time to
set and photograph all the pieces.
Sometimes I have about 10 minutes before I have to bring some pieces in.
This set was one of them.

The desk started out like this.
Your typical wood and metal old school desk.

The bench started like this.
My lovely sister gave it to me.
Its an old vanity bench. it was in great condition but needed an update.
I grabbed some gold spray paint and started painting the legs.
I had no idea what I was going to do yet.
But once I started painting I got in the groove.
I painted the wood part of the base a nice mint green and then started
on the bench.
I painted the bench a cream color and found some cool coordinating
fabric to pull it all together.
Now to the not so perfect addition. In my attempt to recover this bench
I learned how to do the special BACK covering. I thought it went pretty good but
the nail head trim went in a little crooked.
But like I said this is a NOT so PERFECT post!

Here it is. The finished set...
The not so perfect...
finished set.
I hope you enjoyed this post.
Thankfully someone else enjoyed this because it sold pretty quick
after I brought them into the booth.
Well that was the first of our
NOT so PERFECT posts.
I hope you enjoyed.
Until next time.
Go make someones day Beautiful!

Art Is Beauty Favorite Posts of 2015

diy painted furniture artisbeauty.net karin chudy art studio artwork paint do it yourself best of farmhouse style chic fixer upper
Welcome back my Beauties!
Today I am going to show you my personal
favorite posts of 2015.
I normally wait another week or so to share, but I figure just like
me you guys are going to be Busier and Busier leading up to the New Year,
so I would show them to you now.
(kinda like opening a Christmas present early!)
Its always fun to do this post because I get to walk down memory lane and see all the work
I put in this last year.
Sometimes I forget how much I have accomplished in a year,
and this is a nice little reminder.
So here they are, in no particular order.
Choosing a favorite of a bunch of favorites just seems too overboard. :)

Not JUST furniture. DIY mania at ART IS BEAUTY. Artwork and Photography and Graphic design

 Welcome back my BEAUTIES!
If you follow me on Facebook
you know that there has been a lot going on here
at the Art Is Beauty home.
Yesterday the store where I sell my Art and Furniture,
It was pretty exciting to see my WHIMSY tree
and Moonlight Coventina show up on the television.
I had planned on selling the coventina, but was waiting until AFTER she needed it for
the display.
If you are interested you can shoot out an email to me at
artisbeauty1@gmail.com.

Not only was I in the ArtPrize TV feature for the store,
But I was also asked to Photograph our Christmas display
for a spot in
Winter edition.
If you remember my Momma was in the hospital at this time and
I was pretty frazzled, but I had already committed to doing the photo shoot,
and I am so glad I didn't back out.
I was nervous, but excited.
Even more nervous about creating the advertisement itself as well.
I love the owner and the store and really wanted to do a very
professional job.
I am happy to say she was thrilled with how it came out.

Now in ADDITION to ALL that,
I also am in charge of the Sale Graphics for the store.
We are celebrating our 5 YEAR anniversary on October 1,2, and 3.
So this was the Graphic I created.
If you are from the area, we would love for you to come experience the Changing Thymes
Store and Family.

I told you its been crazy here.
I am feeling much relief at these things being off my TO DO list.
I am also happy to say that my MOMMA is doing much better.
She is getting some of her Sass back,
and that is a GOOD thing.
This weekend we are in for some more crazy,
with my two Oldest girls going to their Homecoming dance.
Hopefully I will have some pretty pictures of them to share too!
If I don't say it enough,
I would love to THANK YOU.
All of YOU,
who come by week after week,
and read what I have to say,
and see what I have to create.
I would still be doing it even if you didn't but
you guys just make it that much more enjoyable.
Thank you for always making my days,
BEAUTIFUL!

MidWest Bloggers DIY roundup RECAP

I was standing on an edge deciding if I take a chance and JUMP and see whats out there or just stand back watching everyone else fly.... You pushed me to FLY and I will always always be grateful for that. Karin Chudy.

I have made this statement many times over the years,
but most recently it was to Karen of Dragonfly and Lily pads.
She was the Brains behind the MidWest DIY blogger roundup.
I have said it to many of the women in my life who had some time in my life pushed me to fly.
Last weekend was one of those moments.
I have mentioned before that I have NEVER been to a Blog conference...let alone lead a presentation. So it is with truth I say I was nervous.
But Karen was with me all the way, plus all the other
Bloggers there were so awesome.
My Bloggy BFF Melody from My Passion for Decor, Plus Gina from The Shabby Creek Cottage,
Jen from Jennifer Rizzo Designs
Leanne Lee of DIVA OF DIY
and Jessica of Designer Sweet Spot.
We had a blast and got to meet so many other amazing MidWest Bloggers.
I loved that Karen gave us the opportunity to network
with creators of BLITSY  Katy and Meghan,
and
Simone of Prime Publishing.
I was going to do a PHOTO heavy post..but instead decided to make up a little movie instead for you to RECAP...
I hope you enjoy!

Exciting FUN News at the ART is BEAUTY Blog!

FUN THINGS ARE HAPPENING!
I have been hinting to this for a while,
but I can finally now SPILL the beans!

A few months ago I was asked by
to take a chance on her and her idea.
She was going to get an event started for us Mid West Bloggers.
If you know anything about blogger meet ups they tend to be to out EAST or out WEST.
Not a lot of choices for us IN THE MIDDLE.
It means air travel and time away from family.
I have never been to a conference YET...I just didn't have the TIME..or the MONEY to make a big trip for blogging happen.
But now I finally can.
This event is part of a Randolph Street Market.

It is America's Largest and Liveliest Urban Antique Market with over 300 vendors.
In other words...HEAVEN!
I get to do a DIY segment on Saturday Afternoon.
My KIDS get to come with me!
They get to be a part of what I do.
How great is that.
If you are a blogger in the MID WEST...this is a great opportunity to meet other bloggers and network.
Be sure to check out the LINK to the Event HERE
Or even if you are Local in the area, come out and say "HI"
I would love to see some of my readers in REAL LIFE!

 So that's all for now!
I would love if you shared the event and
told your friends.
We are a bunch of small bloggers with BIG dreams!
We would love to share that dream with you!
Until Next time;
Go make some ones day BEAUTIFUL!
