Finished DIY brick patio and Firepit. Backyard do it yourself before and after
Its done!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!

Here is what you call a CRAP TON of bricks...(actually I called it something else...but you get the drift)  I had been thinking about this project the whole time we were on vacation, and of course as soon as we got back....the landscaping bricks just happened to be on  sale....This week only....SORT OF THING...Ughhh...They were a $1 off a piece....that's a ton of money off....
So I guess it was now or never..

This is the spot...the soon to be patio and fire pit...Our old fire pit was in the back corner.
We had put it there when we first moved in our house 14 years ago...we also planted teenie tiny Norway Spruces....from buds...They are quite large now...and running into the fire pit...
Soooo  Lets get started..

Now here is the fun part!!!!! NOT!!! Removing sod should be some sort of punishment used
at prisons...Even with the drought and us letting the lawn go, removing the dormant and dry sod was such a pain..but you have to, to make sure you can get the ground level.

an even more fun thing is having to CHOP the roots..(I ain't gonna lie, I LOVE this kind of stuff, chopping wood, using chain saws; I can't help it...its so fun)

There! Now all the sod is gone and roots are destroyed and removed..

So we leveled the ground and then added sand and tamped it down. We also put weed block since we
already have sandy soil..since our township is mostly all old orchards and when they built the houses they just leveled the trees and buried them...SO to keep some stability and keep the ants from using the new patio as a CONDO..:)

Once we got all the bricks laid, you need to fill the spaces with sand..You need to do this multiple times...You brush and fill the sand into all the cracks...let is set and then I spray with a light mist to get the sand to compact...then when that is dry you go over it again..I think I did this 4 times...Just to make sure everything was filled.

Then FINALLY we could start laying the bricks for the fire pit...
ALL DONE!!!
Now if we could just get some temps below a 100 degrees and maybe some rain..
We could season the fire pit...

But for now...I am just happy to sit on it and look at all our hard work...I even got to put my Farmhouse table that we built last year on it.. You can see that HERE
Thanks for stopping by...I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day!!

Looks great! You guys have an outdoor room now with that great patio space. We did a project once with that poly sand. Total pain in the booty. I know how much work that was!

You can have my rain. And complete lack of sun if you like. I am going to go grunge and be depressed soon. LOL

That looks amazing! Our place has a concrete slab for a patio but I love the look of the brick. Maybe I can use the cracks in the cement as justification to rip it all out and start from scratch. Lol!
