In the BLOGLIGHT with HOMETALK

 In the Bloglight at Hometalk!

GOOD MORNING MY BEAUTIES!!!

I'm honored to have been chosen to be featured as part of Hometalk's "In the Bloglight" series!

If you aren't familiar with Hometalk, you simply must check it out, as it's an amazing online community, where folks from all over the world *gather* to ask for and share ideas about all things home and garden.

As part of the "Bloglight" series, Miriam (Hometalk's Director of Community Development  extraordinaire) asked me a few questions:
HOW DID YOU CHOOSE THE NAME OF YOUR BLOG?

My blog is named "ART IS BEAUTY" because I have always been a lover of art. From my childhood for which I can still remember opening my tempra paints that came in my Crayola Caddy, (I remember of the sound of the dry paint crunching as I turned open the small little vial and the smell of it) to my days in Honors art in High School. I FEEL things through art. When I had kids I didn't have time to BE ARTISTIC so my home was my ART. I was always using my home to create. Whether painting the walls or decorating or tearing down walls and remodeling, my passion and creativity always needed an outlet. When I decided on the name of the blog I took it from a quote from Théophile Gautier... Art is beauty, the perpetual invention of detail, the choice of words, the exquisite care of execution.

How did you first get into blogging?
UM???? Like the typical me; it was a spur of the moment decision. I was working on a bunch of DIY projects and showing them on my personal Facebook page, my hubby was gone and someone said..you should blog this so everyone could see it. I thought about it and as I was also about to be selling at a booth in a few months I thought this would be a PERFECT way to keep myself on TASK (I tend to get distracted...:)) So that fateful Saturday afternoon, with knowing NOTHING about blogging or basic social media I loaded up a bunch of pictures wrote a small post and hit PUBLISH; and that my friends was HISTORY ...

What was the first project you ever posted?

New to me PHONE table

This was my very first blog post. I had found an old table and needed a phone table...but I only needed HALF...This is back when I had my HUBBY help me with saws...I have now GROWN up and use them ALL the time by myself...which I don't know if it makes the hubby happy or sad...:)

What is your most popular project on Hometalk to-date?

My most popular Hometalk post to-date would have to be my
Old Entertainment Center turned Potting Shed.
Now mind you..my photographing and editing skills are MUCH better now, so PLEASE when you see these pictures know that they are years old...I have evolved in my blogging skills and actually even have my very own WATERMARK now. Unlike years ago, when I just had to use my editing program to type on my blog name every single time. :)
Again, as is usually my luck I had got and old entertainment armoire from
a friend who didn't want it because the door was broken.
As it was sitting in my garage I started to think...
do I fix the door...paint it..sell it....???
and then it hit me..Take off the doors and paint it. Turn it into a
potting shed. I am not kidding when I tell you I kicked out this
project in a day. I was so excited and I had bought a can of oops
exterior paint at Lowes earlier in the week.
The planets aligned and I had myself a free old broken entertainment
center turned potting shed.
Without much more thought, I posted it to HOMETALK (which I might add
had just recently started and I was lucky enough to have joined up right away)
I hit publish on HOMETALK as we were walking out the door to head on a vacation to Colorado. We stopped in the middle of the night on our road trip and I decided to check my email...I had Hundreds of emails who had seen this post. I was flabbergasted...I just thought I REALLY liked this project, I had no idea that others would have liked it as much as me. It was from that point on that I fell in love with HOMETALK and all the support and followers on here.
It still is really great to see it growing and growing.

Do you stick to a strict posting schedule? How do you keep track of when and how often to post?

I would never say anything about me is Strict except my work ethic. I try to post minimum 2 times a week. If I can do more, I will. I will not over extend myself any further than I have to though. I have 4 kids and a wonderful hubby. I have 3 booths that I have to constantly be watching and filling, so tying myself to one more thing would not be good for me and my family. I enjoy blogging so much and have REALLY met so many amazing people that are actually NOW real life friends. We may not see each other but we actually correspond by emails and talk about our family's and stuff that is going on in our life; good or bad. It really is remarkable how the blogging world is not JUST ABOUT BLOGGING. It is about sharing tips wether it be on work related items or LIFE related stuff. It really is an amazing thing.

Well… I hope you guys have enjoyed learning a little bit more about me and my blog.  Thank you so much Miriam for inviting me to be in the Bloglight!  I hope you guys have felt at home here on my site.  A great place to see an overview of what I’ve done is to visit my Blog ART IS BEAUTY and see what I have been up to....  Oh and I hope to see you over at HOMETALK
