Discarded Side table given a Stencilled Makeover

discarded end table given stencilled and painted makeover bohochic before and after diy
Welcome back my Beauties!
We have a had a bit of a warm up so I have been busting my buns
to get some things ready for the booth.
I have had this poor discarded side table in my garage for a few months waiting for its makeover.
I knew it was gonna need some major sanding so I waited until I could be outside to get that done.

So as soon as it warmed up a bit, I pulled out the
Belt Sander and got to work.
I am not gonna lie..It took some major elbow grease along with that big ole belt sander to get through all the grease stains,
but I prevailed!!!
Once I used my finish sander to smooth out the top, I grabbed some dark stain I had in my garage and gave the top a quick stain.
I then cleaned up the rest of the base knowing I would be painting that.

As usual our temps dropped again and I had to bring my little project inside.
I decided this top needed to POP since it had been through such hardships. So I grabbed my
Placed it where I wanted it and got to work.

Since I wanted it to POP, I decided to go with

It played off really nicely with the dark stain.
I slightly distressed it when it was dry to match the light distressing of the table.

For the base color I chose
and
to seal it off.

I couldn't be more THRILLED with how the tired and beat up old table turned out.

The light distressing against the wood and the white paint
just made my heart go pitter patter.

I think you will agree that it looks much better than before.
I am so happy to be plugging away on furniture again.
Now if this nice weather would stick around I could be much more productive.
Sadly we have a wicked snow storm headed this way as I type.
C'est LaVie!
I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover!
I will see you again once I defrost!
Until then;
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Did you seal the stained top as well? Before or after stenciling? It’s beautiful!

Beautiful!!! How do you keep paint from “bleeding” when you stencil?
