Welcome back my Beauties!
I wasn't planning on showing this makeover this week. I had another piece I was going to show, but once I started photographing this piece it just FELT so AUTUMN-ish that I just had to.
First of all; this piece has been sitting in my garage for months.
It was a beast!
Its a very tall waterfall style chest of drawers/dresser with these great bakelite ornate style hardware.
One of the reasons I grabbed this dresser was because all of the hardware was there!
It was so unique that I had to have it.
But while the hardware wall all there and in good shape, the dresser itself was less than perfect.
The drawers all except the top one had chunks out of the veneer and most had deep gouges.
So I decided I was just going to clean up the top and keep that wood grain along with the top drawer and the fun little inlays along the front of the piece.
The rest would be painted in General Finishes Somerset Gold Milk Paint
I sanded all the parts that would be painted to prep the area and then wiped it clean. I put about 3 coats on those areas to give it a nice deep color.
But here is where the fun really started.
I bought this Prima Marketing Vintage color transfer a few months ago and fell in love.
I knew this dresser would be the perfect place to use it.
If you follow me on Instagram you can see how easy they are to apply. Check out my stories HERE sometime to see me using them.
Once it was on I distressed it to look really aged and sealed it with General Finishes Flat out Flat.
Honestly, it was like this transfer was made for this dresser.
And did I not TELL YOU, that it felt like such an Autumn-ish piece!
I just love it.
Now I just need to get the hubster to help me get it into the booth!
I have been having way to much fun with these transfers as you can see from my recent makeovers.
If you missed them be sure to check out
Or how I used it on my Husbands Antique dresser HERE
I am loving how much fun it has added to making over furniture.
I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover
and that you are enjoying some Fall weather.
We seem to have went from Summer to Winter, but heres hoping we get some Autumn weather in the next few days!
Until next time,
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!
