old Milk can turned ADDRESS marker

My sweet sister in law e-mailed me the other day that she had this old milk can sitting in her garage. She was going to put it out in the trash .....EEEEEKKKKKK!, but then she thought, maybe I might want it......HEEEEEHEEEEEE!!! Heck yeah I wanted it!!!! She came over and dropped it off to me this afternoon and said.."what are you going to do with it?" (I am just realizing how OFTEN I hear that statement) :) I at the time said ..."I dunno, but I will find something for this baby".
As I carried my new baby into the garage I thought....LIGHT BULB!!!! My address. I have been wanting to paint it on my front door, but I thought...then I would have to clean it, and if I screw up, I might have to repaint the front door.....ugh....I could forsee a simple project turning into much much more...:)

So I jumped onto my word processor and typed out my address and used carbon paper to transfer the numbers on. Then I used my acrylic paint to paint it on. When its dry I will give it a quick clear coat with some urethane.

I just love how it turned out, and she is sitting pretty on the porch where she belongs....NOT in the landfill.
I hope you all have a BEAUTIFUL night!!

I have an old milk can of my great aunt's and I have been dying to repaint it for 3 years now. I hope to get its sister from my grandmother when she gets rid of it because I want a set. But until that happens I think I have a new found idea for it! I love this!

I just bought a milk can this past Monday at an auction. It's red, and I paid $25 for it, which I thought was a deal. I like the idea of putting your house number on it.

How fun! This would look beautiful nestled in among the flowers of a cottage-y garden. Jen @ www.icantstopcrafting.blogspot.com

That is a great idea! I can totally understand the "what if I mess it up" thinking, so this worked out solving that issue!

What a great way to reuse that milk can! My mom recently offered me an old one that originally belong to my grandmother. Now I know what to do with it. :)
