So here is a project that you are gonna have to use some of that good ole imagination to see the before, since I had taken a picture of it, but can no longer find it on my computer...:) I had gone to the thrift shop and gotten this golden oak memo shelf thingie???? and it was missing the middle. It was 3.99. I knew just what to do to it.
So I brought it home and from what you can't see in the pic, is I PAINTED the oak. Then I got a scrap piece of wood from my shed and mixed up some homemade chalkboard paint. You know the now famous bloggie recipe of 1 cup latex paint and one tablespoon un sanded grout. I had this really cool gray blue paint that I love and I thought that would look neat in the piece.
Once I gave the board 2 thick coats with sanding in between, I distressed the wood on the memo board.
I put it back together and I just love how cool it turned out.!!! Ready to go to the booth for someone else to enjoy.
I hope you all have a BEAUTIFUL day.

Oh that is super cute! I love it. Nothing like walking through a thrift shop and seeing the lost and forlorn cast offs from others while your brain re-imagines them into the most amazing things. :) I love that you saw a chalkboard in this and I hadn't heard of that recipe for making the paint at home before. Thanks for sharing that!
Nice! We have one too; it's painted but buried under a pile of projects somewhere at my sister's place. Hoping to find it before she heads south with the snow birds ~
The memo board looks great and functional too! Would love love love for you to share this at my Best of 2011 party going on now http://space46.blogspot.com. Happy new year! My
