Welcome back my Beauties!
I am excited to be back with another makeover!
I spotted this baby at the local thrift store and ran right up to it.
It was price really cheap since it was missing most of the hardware and was pretty beat up, but I didn't let that stop me.
It was solid wood and I knew it wouldn't take much to bring it back to a beautiful piece of furniture.

I looked through my stash to see if I had extra hardware in this style but I didn't.
This age of piece the replacement hardware gets a bit expensive so I decided to just fill the extra holes and use knobs instead which would cost way less than pulls.
So I filled the extra with wood filler and let it set.

While that was setting I grabbed my Ryobi Cordless sander and took the beat up old finish off the top of the dresser.

Once I got the finish off and wiped the whole thing down with tack cloth  I could put on my finish.
It gave a nice rich finish to the top.

Once it was dry I used General finishes top coat in Satin to protect it.

I mean, look at that grain! The stain really made it POP!

Once the top had cured and I had sanded the base down and wiped it down I could start on painting it.
I wanted to use a color that would work with the warm rich top so I picked General finishes in Westminster Green!

Look how much better those drawers look!
I decided to accent them with some copper knobs

I think you will agree it all worked together!

I love that I was able to save a piece that others had passed over!
It took a little work, but I think it was worth it!

I hope you enjoyed this makeover!
I will be back again soon I hope, with another!

Before and After Vintage Umbrella Hall Tree Makover

before Pine beat up hall tree umbrella stand makeover general finishes diy painted furniture
Welcome back my Beauties!
It's been a crazy week here with kids stuff and unfortunately a funeral for our beautiful Step Grandmother.
In the midst of all that I decided to add to the crazy by redoing a piece of furniture.
Sales have picked up and I have already gone through my reserve pieces which is a good thing, but that means painting a bunch of pieces in a short period of time to restock the booth.
One of those pieces was this vintage-ish pine hall tree.
You can't see from the pictures but all the stain was missing from the feet and had many gouges and scratches.
No better candidate for paint.

As I was looking at the piece deciding what color my daughter suggested white.
You know me.... I very rarely do white.
I love color, but I decided to listen to my daughter.
and gave it a couple coats.
After I was done painting I put the hooks back on and got ready to photograph her.

I gotta say.
I really LOVE it.
I didn't know how I would feel about the white, but I really think it was the perfect color for this piece.
I think it actually makes it feel more vintage.

My husband even asked if I was gonna keep it he liked it so much.
But as you can see from the picture I had to move my Grandmother Clock that I had redone to photograph it, and I love my Grandmother clock more.

Happy New Year, my Beauties!
Well....almost.
I wasn't going to do a "best of" but I am glad I finally got around to looking back over this past year.
I actually hadn't felt like I had accomplished much this year,
as I seem to be in a continual mode of trying to play CATCH UP with everything else going on.
But once I started looking back it felt good to see how much I had accomplished over this last year.
I will show you a highlight below and all you have to do is click on the link for each picture if you want to see the full transformation.

One of my personal favorites was this
Emerald Green Roadside Rescue Dresser Makeover
If you read the post you will see that my husband had actually been out on a walk when he spotted it out in some ones trash and quickly ran home to ask me if I wanted it.
You can guess what that answer was!

Next was this free dresser from a friend of mine that became MY new dresser for my bedroom. This
Mid Century Mod Dresser Makeover
was done specifically for me to KEEP.

Next, was my Bohemian Budget Bathroom Makeover
We have lived in our home almost 20 years and after all that time I finally couldn't take the golden oak cabinet any longer.
Also I could kind of trust the kids to maybe not decimate it now that they were older, LOL!

By far, my favorite makeover this year has been my corner area where I Created an Eating Nook with IKEA benches
As I said before, we have lived here almost 20 years and this corner has been a pain for me for just as long.
I was so excited to finally figure out a way to properly use this space.

I know from looking at this little table it doesn't seem like that big of a makeover but if you click on the link you will see what a little BEAST this free table was.
This Simple Stenciled Side table Makeover
had me testing my nerve and even gave me a few splinters.

I really liked the transformation on this, because it took it from outdated to SOLD in about a day.
You will see what products I used to transform it when you click on the link for my

and see how I even used a LAXATIVE for a great finish! :)

And last but not least,
even though I had many more furniture projects this year,
this
Farmhouse Table and Bench Makeover
was one of my most recent, and I was thrilled with how easy it was able to go from orange and outdated to fresh and fun.

As always, I am so thankful for all of you that have been following me along all these years.
These last few years have been a little bumpy with my mom and all and recalculating and making more time for the things I want out of life, but I am always so incredibly grateful that I always have had all of you BEAUTIFUL people who encourage me every day with your kind words and interest in what I do.
May the new year bring many blessings to all of you,
and may you look back to see all the good things in your life!
As always, Have a BEAUTIFUL day and a wonderful NEW YEAR!

Almost Forgotten Outdated Vanity Makover

Hitting Replay on a favorite Makeover and THANKFUL there is no SNOW in sight!
Welcome back my Beauties.
Now as you know I do a LOT Of makeovers.
I do so many makeovers that sometimes they get FORGOTTEN.
Kind of like this little number that I did and loved.
It sold in the first two days in the booth and I think because it sold so fast
I forgot to show the makeover.
Plus I did this makeover back in JULY...of 2015!!!
(you will notice the nice lush colors and green of everything; in stark contrast to our March 1st snow storm that we are experiencing right now in Michigan)

So this is how I bought it.
I thought it was just a nice light stained vanity upon buying it at the thrift shop.
I thought; maybe I will put some hardware on it and clean it up and it will be just fine.

But when I got it home in good lighting I discovered that this wasn't in fact stain, but brown paint finished to look like stain. You could see the paint flecking off the top here.

So I decided to update it with a coat of General Finishes Seagull Gray Milk Paint
After 2 coats I lightly distressed around the edges to give it a time worn look, and sealed it with General finishes Satin finish.
Plus since the piece was missing the drawer hardware I decided to add these Vintage green glass knobs to the drawer fronts.
I loved how the gray and the green went together.

I also left the original gold edging peeking through to add detail to the piece.

I loved how it turned out and I can't believe I almost forgot to show you guys.
I think all the snow is starting to pack between my ears.
:)
I need some warm sunshine to melt that up!
I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover.
Until next time have a hopefully WARM and Beautiful day!.
