Good Morning my Beauties...I hope you had a wonderful weekend...We got lots of snow and had to dig ourselves out and then it turned to rain...I am SOOOOO ready for spring!
One thing I did get done this weekend was this little nightstand.
It was in fine shape structurally, but the exterior left lots to be desired.
Here is the before...
you can see the finish was just the pits!! I had to work indoors so I didn't want to have to do a ton of sanding. So I decided at that point the piece was going to look VERY VERY distressed.
I mixed up some Georgia Clay and California Gold from CeCe Caldwells to make a Peach color.
As I said on Facebook Saturday night..as a child of the 80's I NEVER thought I would use the color PEACH ever again....:)
I wanted it to have a vintage color though...one that looked like it was from the time period I had in mind for what I was going to do to it. That meant..not only PEACH..But BRASS as well...
whooooo weee doggy...never EVER thought I would be combining those colors again..:)
So what was I gonna do next??....well I wanted something for the top that would be quick since I knew it was going to be distressed..I didn't want to spend a ton of time painting on a graphic
to basically sand it back off.
So I printed off to graphics from THE GRAPHICS FAIRY
They were vintage advertisements for Corsets...
I printed out my graphics in reverse on T-shirt Iron on Paper and started the Transfer...
the first one transferred fine and the second didn't do as well...but it didn't matter since I was going to distress it so much anyway.
when the transfer cooled I "distressed the heck out of her" and waxed her and buffed her.
Here she is in all her distressed vintage glory..Peach and brass with vintage Corset graphics..
as easy as 1 2 3...:)

I love this so much! I would never have thought to try using an iron-on transfer but I LOVE the way it looks - like the images have been on there for 100 years or so!
Who knew that you could Iron on wood? Oh I so love that antique sewing machine. I have my mother-In-Laws and cherish it.
Karin, living not all that far from your area, I totally understand the dilemma that weather poses when we need to do some jobs outdoors! I am facing the task of painting a kitchen table and I will use Annie Sloan paint so that I don't have to prime. Hmmm... but I do have to sand to distress it. Yikes! Didn't think of that one and we have 19 degrees out! I love what you did to jazz up the top! Great use of graphics and the sewing machine sets it all off beautifully!
