Hollywood Regency Style Bar Cart Makover

Welcome back my Beauties!
I have a glamorous and fun makeover for you today!
I am going to show you how I transformed this old
70's cart into a Hollywood Regency Style Bar Cart!

This post is a sponsored post or  uses affiliate links to help you find the products I trust and love
I picked up this cart at the local thrift store for $3
I knew it wasn't much to look at with its old outdated finish
but any time I see anything with those fun little wheels, I think about how I can transform it into a fun little bar cart.
I cleaned the whole thing off and lightly sanded the piece
and got ready to paint.

As usual I couldn't just go with a color right out of the can.
I decided to mix up a custom color using
I gave the whole piece a couple coats but decided it need a little
GLAM so I went through my stencils to decide what I wanted to do.

I grabbed one of my HOME DECOR STENCILS
and some GOLD CRAFT PAINT
stenciled right down the middle of the cart.
I sealed the piece with some General Finishes Flat Topcoat and it was good to go.

I loved how regal the Gold paint played off the custom blue!
I sealed it with some

I think you will agree, it looks like a totally different piece.

Even though I have been doing this for a long time I always worry and wonder if other people will like when I go a little fun and funky with my makeovers,

But I am happy to say that this baby sold the day after I brought it into the booth.
So someone out there like the transformation as well!

I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover.
The weather here has FINALLY started to behave just a bit so I can get outside and get some of my bigger projects done, before we get into the crazy graduation preparations for my daughter.
I hope to be back soon with another fun makeover.
Until then;
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Two Toned Buffet Bar Makeover

Working on a bunch of new projects
so hitting REPOST on one of my favorite posts
of last year!

Good Morning my Beauties!
It’s Themed Furniture Makeover Day!  This month’s theme is Two Toned.
So Today I have a fun Two Toned makeover for you guys!.

This was how I Found the piece at goodwill.
It had that plastic type of coating on the top with the fake grain on the doors. Even though underneath is wood for some reason in the 70's and 80's they thought it looked better to put this fake veneer on top of it. But just like anything Styles change and this piece was looking for a NEW STYLE.
I sanded the top down the best I could to get a good contact with the plastic coating for my paint.
I was going Two Tone for the project so I wanted to do the legs the same as the top.
I did a custom mix of CeCe Caldwells brown and Coal.

While the top and bottom were drying,
I mixed up a custom blue green mix for the base.
I painted the whole thing and gave it a second coat after that on both the top
and the bottom.

I used clear wax on the whole piece.
I buffed the whole thing and got a nice sheen to it.
Then I replaced the hardware to match the top and the bottom.
I just love how it changed the whole look of the piece.
I really like the change.
I hope you do too!
Oh and that painting on the top....one of my first paintings I did as an adult.
I cried after I painted this Russian Olive tree because
I didn't know if I could still paint after all the years I let it go.
(so thats the back story on that...:)  Never give up)

Beat up ANTIQUE Music Cabinet turned Hand Painted HAPPY HOPPY Homebrew Bar

Happy Hoppy Homebrew Cabinet Hand painted hop artwork vintage music cabinet
Sometimes a reader reminds me about an old post.
This time a wonderful reader reminded me of this
Homebrew Bar I made.
I love looking back at the pieces I did and
this for sure was a favorite of mine!
ENJOY!

Good Morning My BEAUTIES!
I told you I would be back this week with a MAKEOVER.
This my friends was the reason I couldn't get a post up on Monday.
I have been working on this project for the last couple days.
I have been Jone-sing to put some ARTWORK
on a piece for a while now, Like some of my Older pieces
that you can see HERE, HERE, or HERE, just to show a few.

BUT,  I just hadn't found the right piece to put it on....UNTIL
I found this gorgeous piece...:)
I happened upon it at a half off estate sale on my way home from
the grocery store.

I perused through the spider web and dust ridden basement not finding anything.. and as I
walked into the old laundry room I saw the details of the doors..and gasped..(mostly from all the
dust I was choking on...:)
There it was HIDDEN in a back laundry room.
So covered in years of dust and forgotten-ness that I had assumed it must not have been
for sale, or
I had thought it would be out of my price range, seeing as these types of pieces around here
usually are. Even in the state of it I thought they might be asking too much...
To my happy surprise the price was only $15...
WHOOOOOP!!
The reason being as it was missing a back first of all
and the top looking as it did.
Plus since the workers were ELDERLY, I had to carry this beast upstairs by myself.
(Lord have Mercy, that I didn't drop this down the stairs on to someone or kill myself getting it up
but I am a determined woman...and I was determined to get it home.)
But I didn't care..I was in love.
NOW mind you I am guessing it was a sheet music storage cabinet.
You can see where it had multiple shelves at one time. Now gone, and the house was filled with
old record players. So that is how I came to that conclusion.

Now for the missing back....I had rescued this old bookcase from someones trash a few months ago.
I kept MEANING to put a back on it and paint it...
But now this piece needed a back...and this piece could still be used to save another piece of furniture's lively hood... :)
I dismantled the shelf and started cutting.
(I love power tools...:))
Once I got the back on I could start
the fun of painting.
I decided to use spray paint on the inside since it was quick
and I wanted to get started on the OUTSIDE.
I again grabbed a power tool; my belt sander, and sanded
down the top smooth.
Than took care of the I LOVE YOU heart and arrow carved in the top
and the missing part of veneer.
I wanted a multiple layer look so I started with American Paint companys
Peacock, and a top layer of Nanas cupboard
After all that I got to have some FREE HAND FUN!
I drew a circle and a single hop cone and leaf.
We have been HOME BREWERS for over 16 years and had just come
home from a Home Brew competition where the hubby's beer took home a SILVER.
So needless to say I was inspired by BEER! :)
I started painting over the next couple days.
Here it is before the distressing.
I knew that my circle wouldn't have to be perfect with the distressing
so I tried not to stress to much about that.
and Here is the AFTER.
This was such a fun piece to do
and again, it will be another that
I will have a hard time letting go of.

When it was finished I could see my Hubby's brain spinning
trying to figure out where we could put this piece.
But I told him I would just make him a sign with this
on it, since it takes up less space..:)
Here are some dried HOP cones from the hubby's Hop harvest last year,
Along with a very old MUSKEGON BREWING bottle that my
father in law found for us.

I realize that this post was picture heavy and
I thank you for hanging with me. :)
That is if you made it this far............
I hope you enjoyed this furniture makeover
as much as I enjoyed painting it.
Hopefully this piece will be making some other
home brewers home a Happy Hoppy Home.
Until next time;
Go make someones day BEAUTIFUL

Teal Buffet Makeover AKA "THE GOLDEN ARROW"

Good first MAKEOVER MONDAY of 2015 my BEAUTIES!

Did you all have a great End of the Year?
Ours was pretty subdued and that was just fine with me.
With all the insanity of  work and Christmas with the families
it was much needed to bring in the new year quietly.
One of the last projects I completed before Christmas was this little buffet.
I had picked it up from a Salvation army store earlier and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it.
It was solid but the top was pretty beat up and it had the orange finish that isn't real popular around here anymore.
Luckily I had just the thing to transform it.
I had received some of this CeCe Caldwells Kukui Stain finish and I thought this would
be the PERFECT piece to try it out on.
I scuffed up the top with some steel wool and wiped it down and layered on my stain finish.
It darkened it up just enough to give it a more up to date look.
Then for the base I used some of CeCe's Thomasville Teal.
I didn't go crazy being perfect on the base because I knew I was going to distress it and use some light medium wax to give it some age.
I loved how it turned out and was worried it was going to be another piece that I was going to have to end up keeping for myself, but it sold rather quickly. :)
I called it the GOLDEN ARROW because if ANY of you have been looking for this hardware
from Hobby Lobby you know how DIFFICULT they were to find.
(like digging for gold)
These were the only 4 I was able to get.
Luckily I made them work for this piece.
I knew I was going to have to change out the dated hardware and that these
would give it the look that I wanted.
Honestly I don't know HOW many trips I took to try and find these pulls.
I knew when I found the four that was all I was going to find.
I think you will agree, all the hunting for the hardware was worth it.
They helped transform the piece.

I hope you enjoyed the latest Makeover Monday of  2015.
Don't forget I also have a new LINK party going for the new year.
Our old party disbanded so I decided to try and continue it
for the new year.
Seeing what all of you were up to was always a Highlight of my week.
I really would love to try and keep that going,
but I need YOUR HELP doing it.
Please share the party and LINK up so I can continue to be inspired by
my BEAUTIES!

I hope you will join me!
Until next time!
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!
