Bohemian Style Painted Desk Makeover

DIY BLOGGER Old outdated vintage pine desk given a bohemian makeover via Paint stain and hardware
Hey!! Welcome back my Beauties!!
Can you believe it?
I finally had time to write up a new post!
This piece has been done for about a month but crazy kids school schedule has kept me runnin in about 10 different directions at once!
I am actually sitting at my twins orchestra concert waiting for it to start as I type this.
I picked up this desk for about $10at the local thrift shop.
It wasn't much to look at and you can see they tried to "improvise" the missing knobs with some rope.
But that didn't really work out so well.

The top had some sort of GUM residue or something FUN on top that wasn't fun to look at!

Luckily it was nothing my
couldn't take care of.
A couple of passes with that in different grit and the top was ready to be stained and sealed.

While the top was drying I started working on the base.
Since I wanted to give it a punch of color to give it that BOHO feel I chose
A couple coats of that and it was looking better already!

I used the
to keep that chalky finish look to the piece.
Once it was all done I just grabbed some copper colored knobs to finish the piece off!

Executive Desk Makeover using General Finishes Queenstown Gray paint.

Welcome back my Beauties!
Time for another Furniture Makeover!

Today I am going to show you how I transformed this beat up old Executive desk with just a little bit of paint!

But before I can start the transformation I have to take care of this pesky veneer that is falling off.
It was splintered and really fragile and I tried to glue it back down but no amount of glue was gonna keep it down the way it was flaking so it I had to change my plan.

Than plan now consisted of ripping off the veneer in this one part.
I knew I was going to paint the drawers so it was just a matter of using a scraper and pulling off the rest of the veneer.
It was so bad that it barely took any work at all to pop it off.
Once I did I lightly sanded it and got it ready to paint.

I gave the drawers 2 coats of the gray and cleaned up the base of the desk which was in great condition.
I spray painted the old hardware with some copper spray paint
and this baby was ready to be put back together again.

As long as I have been doing this I still am always in awe of how just a little bit of paint can change the whole look of a piece.

The gray brought out the richness of the wood along with the copper finish hardware.

hopefully inspired you to see how a little bit of paint can make a worn out piece Beautiful again!

Handsome Blue Velvet Finishes Free Desk Makeover

This post is a sponsored post or  uses affiliate links to help you find the products I trust and love

Welcome back my Beauties!
I am back with another makeover and this one is a Handsome Blue Desk Makeover using Velvet Finishes Line of products!
Disclosure: This paint in this post was provided by Velvet Finishes. All opinions, images and love of painting projects are 100% mine.
I picked up this Desk for free next to a dumpster.
It was a SOLID piece but a BEAST to move.
The top was in pretty good shape so I knew I could just clean that up,
but the base needed to be painted.
Velvet Finishes to the Rescue!

I have been wanting to try this paint for a while so I was excited when I had the chance to finally try them.
One of the things I love about Kellie Smith's paint line is that she makes it as little work as possible...Paint smart...not Hard...a girl after my own heart!
One of the ways she does that is with this "READY" spray.
The READY mixture eliminates the need to really prep or sand your piece.
Spray the READY on your piece, let it sit for a minute or two, then wipe it down with a clean cloth.

Once the piece was prepped it was time to paint. I loved this color called "handsome"
It is my New favorite blue. The pigment is outstanding and it goes on so nice!
Kellie notes that the paint is not a chalk paint, not a milk paint, but rather a “specially formulated, low VOC and non-toxic, latex, water-based paint.”

This here was after only ONE COAT! I told you the pigment in this paint was awesome.
I gave it two coats and after it dried I was ready to Protect it.

I love how easy it was to protect this piece using her "protect" product.
You can watch her You Tube tutorial to see how easy it is.
Just click here to watch it.!

This was the finished product!
Can you even believe this is the same piece that was left next to a dumpster!

To jazz it up even more I added some new hardware.
I actually picked up these brushed nickel knobs at a thrift shop for a couple bucks.
They really helped transform the piece.

And there you have it.
Another piece rescued to the trash!
I am happy to say to, that this is the piece I told you about on my Facebook Page.

I brought it in and by the time I got home they had called to tell me it had already sold and left the building.
Its been a while since that has happened so it was a good feeling to have!
I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover.
I got myself a new laptop that I have to relearn so I will finally be able to share all the makeovers I have been working on while my computer was on the fritz.
So until next time;
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Gray and Copper Desk Makeover

All opinions and thoughts expressed within this post are 100% my own, however, this post is sponsored by D. Lawless Hardware.

Welcome back my Beauties!
Its time again for the Fab Furniture Flippin Contest Makeover.
For this months makeover I chose this beat up beauty of a desk that a neighbor of mine was happy to leave with me. :)

Each month, the Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest challenges  a group of bloggers to flip a piece of furniture using a product from one of their fabulous sponsors.  This month’s theme is Class It Up! For this months Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest™ we teamed up with  D. Lawless Hardware.
This hardware company is a family run business in the United States that has a superior customer service. While looking for my specific sized hardware I had multiple options and styles for bringing my vision to life.
I picked out my hardware before I even started on my makeover because I wanted their beautiful hardware to be the jumping off point for my desk and go from there.
Once I had my choice I went from there.
First things first I had to sand this baby down. This desk had provided YEARS of service and it was time to give some life back to it. I used my random orbital sander and got the top of the desk down to the bare wood.
Once the top was sanded I chose to use General Finishes Java Gel on the top with their topcoat.
It gave me the rich color I wanted for the top of this desk.
Once that was stained and sealed I could get started on the base.

I chose a Driftwood gray color from General Finishes for the base. I was in love already but couldn't wait for the next part.

My BEAUTIFUL new HARDWARE!! Isn't it gorgeous.

For my piece I chose these gorgeous Copper Kettle Cup pulls and knobs to really class the piece up.
I was in love with the gorgeous finish and classy feel.

I think you will agree that they gave this piece the CLASS it deserved.
Such gorgeous rich copper against the gray and stain.

It turned out even better than I imagined all thanks to the gorgeous hardware.

Can you even believe its the same piece??
I hope you enjoyed this latest Fab Furniture Flippin Makeover.
Until next time Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Not so PERFECT Vintage Desk and Free Vanity Bench Makeover

Hitting REPLAY on an old post.
ENJOY!

Good Morning My Beauties!
Last night I asked on FACEBOOK if you guys would like to see
NOT SO PERFECT posts.
You guys said yes...SO here is the first one.
Last night I explained that when I get super busy, I don't have time to
set and photograph all the pieces.
Sometimes I have about 10 minutes before I have to bring some pieces in.
This set was one of them.

The desk started out like this.
Your typical wood and metal old school desk.

The bench started like this.
My lovely sister gave it to me.
Its an old vanity bench. it was in great condition but needed an update.
I grabbed some gold spray paint and started painting the legs.
I had no idea what I was going to do yet.
But once I started painting I got in the groove.
I painted the wood part of the base a nice mint green and then started
on the bench.
I painted the bench a cream color and found some cool coordinating
fabric to pull it all together.
Now to the not so perfect addition. In my attempt to recover this bench
I learned how to do the special BACK covering. I thought it went pretty good but
the nail head trim went in a little crooked.
But like I said this is a NOT so PERFECT post!

Here it is. The finished set...
The not so perfect...
finished set.
I hope you enjoyed this post.
Thankfully someone else enjoyed this because it sold pretty quick
after I brought them into the booth.
Well that was the first of our
NOT so PERFECT posts.
I hope you enjoyed.
Until next time.
Go make someones day Beautiful!

Desk Makeover using Pure and Original Paint

Disclosure: This post contains sponsored links from Pure & Original Paint. All opinions are 100% my own. This post contains affiliate links.

Welcome Back my Beauties!
I am sorry I have been absent for the last few weeks, but spring break was so nice I decided to extend it and play catch up around the house.
I am not used to relaxing and once I got that little taste of it while on vacation it was more difficult than I thought to get back into the swing of things.
But I am back now and I am so excited to share the latest desk makeover.
Its also time for the Fab Flippin furniture Contest and I was excited to try out our latest sponsor.
Pure & Original is the month’s sponsor of the Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest and I couldn't wait to give it a try.

This is the desk that would be the recipient of the Pure and Original paint.
The colors I had chosen were STEEL BLUE and BISON HAIR brown.
I loved the combination of Rich colors.

Pure & Original Paints

Hand made high quality lime paints, chalk based paints and marrekech wall paints, inspired by nature, made with a passion for colors, and respect for the environment. Pure & Original paints provide stunning finishes in bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms and on furniture.

I received free paint from Pure & Original in exchange for writing a review on the blog. This post contains an affiliate link, which means that if you click on the product link, I’ll receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions 100% are my own.

Here you can see the first 2 coats.
It truly did go on with a velvet finish.
I was so impressed with the product straight out of the can.
This is the desk after 2 coats.
Since you don't HAVE to seal it I simply used my buffing brush attached to my cordless drill and shined it right up WITHOUT wax.
Classico is an environmentally friendly, professional chalk and water based paint with natural (100% mineral) pigments. Popular in the USA on furniture,  Classico is ideal for walls because it is washable without any wax or sealer.
The final finish is a special non-gloss look and the rich deep colors of Pure & Original will give your home an exclusive style. Classico is matte like lime paint, but more consistent in color, softer, and has a a velvet-like, powdery feel. Classico is available in 140 colors.
I couldn't believe how it shined up without the wax.

And here is the finished product all buffed up and shiny.
I changed out the hardware to update the piece and I think it just added that much more to the piece.

I look at this desk and still can't believe its the same desk.

I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover.
