FREE armoire turned into outdoor Garden Potting Center

OLD FREE TV ARMOIRE TURNED OUTDOOR FARMHOUSE STYLE POTTING SHED
Today I am resharing a BLAST from the PAST!!
One of my most viewed projects!

WHEW!!! What a doozie!! ITs done...almost..I just have to seal it with Exterior
spar urethane when its cured but other than that.....Its done!!! :)

This is what it looked like BEFORE....Our friend had moved and somehow his armoire had gotten
broken in the move.

You can see here the door was ripped off at one of the joints. I thought about fixing it
since the original plan was to put it in our bedroom...but with the broken door
I thought I had a BETTER idea..
You see I have been looking around Pinterest and been wanting
a potting shed forever and Pinterest wasn't helping curb
my appetite. So one night while the thing sat on my patio
I thought...BINGO...potting shed...

Now I know its Oak and its meant to be inside but I also know that I want it to weather and look old.
Sooo.....PERFECT.

I just happened to LUCK out at Home Depot and scored a
$7 gallon of  Behr Primer and Paint ULTRA..
Its a $32 gallon and the color was perfect..
Someones OOPS paint was my PERFECT paint.

Well the Oops paint score further enticed the bug in my butt, or bee in my bonnet,
Whatever you want to call it. NOW I had to do it. It was such a BEAUTIFUL day
and its not suppose to rain for the next few days, so NO time like the
present....SOOO I painted the outside with the oops and the inside with a pale yellow paint that I
Had..You see...SO far I have spent only $7.....That's IT...

While the paint was drying I was thinking what I wanted to do to decorate and enhance my
new beloved potting center. Well I remembered I had just bought these cool little
rod iron brackets at Goodwill...So.......

OLD FREE TV ARMOIRE TURNED OUTDOOR FARMHOUSE STYLE POTTING SHEDI grabbed a scrap piece of wood, painted it with the oops paint and attached my brackets.

While that was drying I had found some more scrap deck boards that I had painted with the oops paint too...Those I just quickly painted on "herbs" and "flowers"

I started putting it all together...Loving it more and more.
I found an old shelf in my shed with hooks on it, just laying in my shed. I had gotten it
Free from my sister....Thanks Stacy..:)

You see the cute little block shelf on the bottom...that used to be the DVD holder that was hanging from the top..I just flipped it over and hacked off some of the trim so that
it could lay flat.

I also had some slate tiles in my shed that I had also gotten for.....WAIT FOR IT........... FREE!!!.....:)

so TOTAL cost....11 bucks...HA!! I love it!!!

ITS BEAUTIFUL.....At least to me...I hope you think its a BEAUTY too...

Emerald Green Rescued Dresser Before and After

emerald green boho dresser makeover BEFORE roadside rescue Free makeover diy blogger
Welcome back my Beauties!
I have a bright and beautiful makeover for you today!
A couple weeks ago my husband was out taking the dog for a walk and saw our neighbor had this dresser out for the trash. He quickly walked home and asked me if I wanted it.
I gave him the "LOOK" that conveyed "of COURSE I do!" and "HURRY UP BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE GRABS IT!"
(normally I would have run out with him, but I had literally just stepped out of the shower)
The next thing you know I see him walking back up the road pushing this on my dolly...He didn't even mess around with the truck...he figured he took the dog for a walk, he might as well take the dresser for a walk! :)
It was in ok condition. It was a mix of particle board covered in "WOOD" looking stickers and solid wood.
The top was in almost perfect condition just needed to be cleaned up.
But the base...that needed some LOVIN!

I wanted this dresser to POP and show off a little after being left by the curb, so I chose

Here you can see it after just one coat!
It was starting to transform before my very eyes.
Since the hardware was still in great shape, all I did was clean those up and spray them with some shiny gold paint.
Once it was all dry, she was ready for the BALL!

While I am always happy to score free furniture,
sometimes I wish the people who got rid of them could see how a little bit of love transformed them.
(but I still want the free furniture 😊)

This will be another dresser that is hard to part with,
but I am happy knowing that I saved another piece from the landfill.

Handsome Blue Velvet Finishes Free Desk Makeover

This post is a sponsored post or  uses affiliate links to help you find the products I trust and love

Welcome back my Beauties!
I am back with another makeover and this one is a Handsome Blue Desk Makeover using Velvet Finishes Line of products!
Disclosure: This paint in this post was provided by Velvet Finishes. All opinions, images and love of painting projects are 100% mine.
I picked up this Desk for free next to a dumpster.
It was a SOLID piece but a BEAST to move.
The top was in pretty good shape so I knew I could just clean that up,
but the base needed to be painted.
Velvet Finishes to the Rescue!

I have been wanting to try this paint for a while so I was excited when I had the chance to finally try them.
One of the things I love about Kellie Smith's paint line is that she makes it as little work as possible...Paint smart...not Hard...a girl after my own heart!
One of the ways she does that is with this "READY" spray.
The READY mixture eliminates the need to really prep or sand your piece.
Spray the READY on your piece, let it sit for a minute or two, then wipe it down with a clean cloth.

Once the piece was prepped it was time to paint. I loved this color called "handsome"
It is my New favorite blue. The pigment is outstanding and it goes on so nice!
Kellie notes that the paint is not a chalk paint, not a milk paint, but rather a “specially formulated, low VOC and non-toxic, latex, water-based paint.”

This here was after only ONE COAT! I told you the pigment in this paint was awesome.
I gave it two coats and after it dried I was ready to Protect it.

I love how easy it was to protect this piece using her "protect" product.
You can watch her You Tube tutorial to see how easy it is.
Just click here to watch it.!

This was the finished product!
Can you even believe this is the same piece that was left next to a dumpster!

To jazz it up even more I added some new hardware.
I actually picked up these brushed nickel knobs at a thrift shop for a couple bucks.
They really helped transform the piece.

And there you have it.
Another piece rescued to the trash!
I am happy to say to, that this is the piece I told you about on my Facebook Page.

I brought it in and by the time I got home they had called to tell me it had already sold and left the building.
Its been a while since that has happened so it was a good feeling to have!
I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover.
I got myself a new laptop that I have to relearn so I will finally be able to share all the makeovers I have been working on while my computer was on the fritz.
So until next time;
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Roadside Rescue Dresser Zero Money Makeover

This post uses affiliate links to help you find the products I trust and love
Welcome back my Beauties!.
As you read this I am hopefully crossing the Tennessee Border heading South for our family's Spring Break.
I am probably slugging down Gas Station coffee, with my earbuds in, jammin to some awesome tunes while my kids sleep peacefully in the back. Hopefully the Hubby is catching some winks so he will be bright eyed for his turn at the wheel when the sun starts to rise.
But enough about our 24 hour straight through drive.
Lets talk about this Roadside Rescue.
Here is the back story on this dresser.
You may all know that I sell my furniture in the store Changing Thymes in Grandville Michigan.
Well, we have lots and lots of competition in the surrounding area and sometimes it is HARD to find a piece of furniture to paint to sell.
This was one of those times.
I had been perusing the thrift stores and craigslist and I was having No LUCK at all.
Then, I get a call that there is a FREE dresser sitting in someones front yard.
Well you can bet your bottom dollar that I jumped in my truck and burned on out over to where this was before someone else could snatch it up.
The thing was a beast, but I didn't let that stop me.
Seeing as this wasn't my first rodeo I backed my Suburban up,
hopped out and started working out how I was gonna get this in my truck by myself.
I first pulled out all the drawers and stacked them on the middle seat.
then I flipped the thing up on its end and laid it down slowly on the bumper of my truck.
Once I had the leverage I popped the other end and pushed it up into the back, just as the owner was coming out to help.
I believe his words were something like "one woman pit crew"
I also think he was very happy not to have had to help.
With that I was back on my way home so I could start transforming it right away.

Being as this was a particle board piece (sauder) the top was super shiny.
It also had lots of nasty water rings and scratches.
I wanted to make sure I had good adhesion for my paint before I started so I wiped the whole piece down with DEGLOSSER

After wiping off the deglosser and then lightly sanding out the deep scratches  I could get to painting.
I chose this gray color by old town paints.
I wanted to take this piece out of the 1980's and give it a more classic feel.

I gave it 2 coats of paint after I took off all the old hardware and spray painted the original hardware black.
I didn't put the old brash shell shapes back on because like I said I was trying to bring it OUT of the 80's

Once the two coats of gray were dry I used some black acrylic paint to dry brush the whole piece, which helped to give it a little more dimension.
Then I sealed the whole piece with some satin poly and I could start putting the hardware back on.

Look at the difference from the first picture.
It cost me no money, because I used paint I already had and just painted the old hardware.
I love the classic gray and black.
I have to laugh because I painted this on a day that it hit 60 degrees here and was rushing like a mad woman to quickly photograph (Which is why you will notice the minimal staging)
It has snowed 3 times since then.
(now you know why we are driving south)
I have to say these makeovers are some of my favorites because with a little paint, I was able to save this piece from going to the landfill.

I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover and I hope I have inspired you to not drive by those pieces that you see on the side of the road
(unless you live by me, then you better keep on driving LOL)
Until next time,
Have a Beautiful day!

DIY French Wine and Wine glass carrier made from Pallets.

This post uses affiliate links to help you find the products I trust and love
Hello my Beauties!
I am so excited to be back with you to share this great Pallet Project.

Being a connoisseur of FREE things, I love to be able to make something fun and functional with pallets!
Come see how I used this FREE Food Grade Pallet to make this Beautiful French DIY Wine carrier.

Here you can see my free food grade pallet.
( I like to use food grade because they don't have the harmful chemicals in them)

To get the pieces I needed for my wine carrier I just used my Rockwell circular saw and cut off my pieces.

Once I had all my pieces cut I laid out my design to see how big I wanted it.
You can see here I brought out an old wine bottle and my glasses to make sure I gave myself room to get these in and out of the carrier.
Once I decided on my size I made a few small cuts to even things out and then used my Ryobi Airstrike nailer to shoot some nails into to quickly hold it together.
Knowing I was going to be tying some rope as the handle I just used my drill to drill two holes in the top standing boards.

Once I had it all prepped I could stain it using my favorite color, Rustoleums dark walnut stain
and tie a handle with my sisal rope.

To "FRENCH" it up I just used an old french stencil I had laying around and
stenciled this on the front.
I just love how rustic yet charming it looks and functional as well.

And it was all made from free pallets.
I hope you liked this latest project.
I had so much fun creating something from a pallet laying on the
side of a building.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Until next time,
Go make someones day Beautiful!
