Emerald Green Rescued Dresser Before and After

emerald green boho dresser makeover BEFORE roadside rescue Free makeover diy blogger
Welcome back my Beauties!
I have a bright and beautiful makeover for you today!
A couple weeks ago my husband was out taking the dog for a walk and saw our neighbor had this dresser out for the trash. He quickly walked home and asked me if I wanted it.
I gave him the "LOOK" that conveyed "of COURSE I do!" and "HURRY UP BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE GRABS IT!"
(normally I would have run out with him, but I had literally just stepped out of the shower)
The next thing you know I see him walking back up the road pushing this on my dolly...He didn't even mess around with the truck...he figured he took the dog for a walk, he might as well take the dresser for a walk! :)
It was in ok condition. It was a mix of particle board covered in "WOOD" looking stickers and solid wood.
The top was in almost perfect condition just needed to be cleaned up.
But the base...that needed some LOVIN!

I wanted this dresser to POP and show off a little after being left by the curb, so I chose

Here you can see it after just one coat!
It was starting to transform before my very eyes.
Since the hardware was still in great shape, all I did was clean those up and spray them with some shiny gold paint.
Once it was all dry, she was ready for the BALL!

While I am always happy to score free furniture,
sometimes I wish the people who got rid of them could see how a little bit of love transformed them.
(but I still want the free furniture 😊)

Simple Stencilled Side table MAKEOVER

roadside rescue small stencilled side table makeover removing veneer stencilled diy project
Welcome back my Beauties!
Sorry I have been so absent lately.
A year ago my Mom got sick and we lost her a few months later.
I basically have been kind of floating through the last few months trying to re navigate my life without her.
I feel like I am living in an alternate world sometimes.
Our lives have gone back to somewhat normal routine, yet something is always missing.
What makes it hard is that I also have so many makeovers that I was working on when she got sick, so to sit down and start going through these projects is a little difficult.
It brings me back to when we were dealing with so much yet still trying to get my work done to sell at my booth.
I have to say seeing these projects is getting a little easier and I am finally ready to start showing what I was working on back then.
Mostly because my momma LOVED a good project.
The worse it was in the beginning the better.
This is one of those projects.

My father in law had picked this old sad table up out of someones trash. He wasn't sure I could do anything with it, but once he saw my face when he gave it to me, he knew it was a mistake to doubt me. :)
The veneer was in awful shape but I knew from experience it just needed a little elbow grease and that stuff would be gone in moments.
I started by prying off the loose veneer and then using the soaking method to loosen what was left.

Once I got it all scraped off I could move on to making her pretty.

While the top was drying I painted the whole base of the table with
paint.

Then for the fun part. I grabbed my
PAISLEY STENCIL and using the same mint paint from the base I stencilled the top of the table.
I was in love with the dark and light contrast.
I spray sealed the whole piece when it was dry.

I love how the stencil on top of the dark wood brought the whole piece together.

I still can't believe this was the same table that someone had thrown in the trash.

But as usual, those are always my favorite makeovers!

I still can't believe the difference.
I also find it funny that I have never seen another table like this before.
I have seen a lot of furniture in my day, but none like this.
If you have any idea what it was called I would love to know!
In the next few weeks I will be show a few more makeovers from last summer.
It takes me a little longer to go through the pictures to edit, but hopefully I am still making my momma proud.
Until next time,
Have a BEAUTIFUL day.

Before and After Rescued Dresser Makeover

before and after dresser makeover eclectic blue vintage inlay wood dresser veneer removal

Welcome back my Beauties!
I am so excited to show you this latest makeover!
A few months ago my nephew texted me to tell me there was a couple of dressers adjacent to a dumpster.
He sent me a pick and told me if I wanted them I had better grab them quick.
He told me they were damaged but I didn't care.
I have put a lot of dressers back together so I wasn't scared.

When we got them home I could better inspect the damage.
Most of it was water damage to the top.
The veneer was a total loss.
But like I said. I haven't walked away from a dumpster dresser makeover yet, and I wasn't going to start today.
So I got my handy dandy scrapper and got as much of the veneer off as I could.
Then it was time for the big guns.

I used my Belt Sander to take down all the damaged veneer I couldn't scrape off.

This is what it looked like after about 15 minutes with the belt sander.
Once I got it smooth and wiped off all the dust with some tac cloth
I was ready to stain.

I stained the top with some Ipswich Pine Stain
and when that was dry I used Wipe on Poly

Once that was done it was time to pretty up the base.
I wiped it all down and removed the hardware.

I am in LOVE with the "Handsome" colour by Velvet Finishes and I knew it would be the perfect color for this dresser.
I gave it two coats and it was ready to go.

I was THRILLED with how it turned out.
I didn't even have to do anything to the hardware.
Once the dresser was pretty again the hardware really showed off the style of the piece.

Free Rescued Laminate ZERO Dollar Dresser Makeover

Welcome back my Beauties!
I am so happy to be back with a New Furniture Makeover piece to show off today.
It is a piece that sat for a while in my garage while I decided what I wanted to do with it.

This is what sat staring at me BEGGING for a MAKEOVER!
I rescued this piece one day while picking my daughter up from Girl Scouts.
As we were driving to pick her up and OF COURSE running a tad late, I saw this sitting on the side of the road with a free sign on it.
As many of you know my head snapped around faster than the speed of sound.
Unfortunately not fast enough for my BRAIN to speak to my mouth to tell my hubby to pull over.
I am sure he figured it all out from the gasping and pointing.
He just said, IF its still their on the way back from picking up Gabby we will grab it.
WOOO HOOO!!
It was still their when we got back as you can see. :)
We loaded it up in the van and took it home where it sat.
Then one day inspiration struck!
Whenever I pick up these rescues I try to spend ZERO to little money on the transformation.
Meaning I have to use What I have in my stash.
I grabbed some General Finishes Seagull Gray paint and gave the dresser 2 coats (after I had lightly sanded the stickers and gunk off the top of the laminate dresser.)

Once the 2nd coat was dry I decided it still needed a little something so I just dry brushed it with some brown paint.

Now even while that was an improvement it still wasn't good enough for little ole me!
I needed to add some spunk to it.
I had some number stencils in my stash so I quick used the same brown paint from the dry brushing and added the numbers down the front.
I then used just the cap to one of my paint lids and stamped circles around the numbers.
As for Hardware this is where it could get expensive.
LUCKILY I had just redone my kitchen ( you can see the Kitchen Makeover Here) and had saved all my old oil rubbed bronze drawer pulls hardware.
They were the perfect size.
So just like that, for ZERO dollars I was able to save this dresser from the trash.
AND even better, I brought it in to Changing Thymes and it sold almost instantly!
Furniture sales have been in a Slump so it was a nice to start the month with a sale!

So next time you see that piece of furniture on the side the road, give it a chance!
You too might be able to give it a ZERO dollar makeover!

Champagne Crate inspired Coffee table

In honor of NEW YEARS..I am resharing my CHAMPAGNE crate Coffee table
One of my first posts I did way back when I first started Blogging.
I fell in love with it then and had to keep it.
I STILL have it and LOVE IT!
I haven't tired of it yet!

I still have this table and my feet are presently propped up on it while typing..:)

Good Morning my Beauties. I am just so psyched to tell you about this project. I don't know if you remember back this summer while I was camping with my Family up in Pentwater Michigan, my husband and I got a chance to go dumpster diving.  Above in the picture are just some of the things we got in the diving expedition.  :)  One of those items was this table. As you can see from the picture it was missing one of the edge pieces and it was very very wobbly and the top boards were popping up. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! I mean, WHO would throw this away??????  :O
When we got home my husband found a scrap piece of wood and attached it and then used my wood burning tool to etch in some lines.  (I would have done it, I just think he was hoping if  he did this right away I would finish it right away)  YEAH RIGHT!!!

SOOOO it sat like this in the shed for almost 4 months waiting for inspiration!!

Well it never came until I pulled out a bunch of other furniture and decided to just paint a bunch at the same time.  Just like when I do a painting, sometimes the inspiration comes while you are working on it and SHAZAM!!  that's what happened with this one.

I decided I would only paint the legs and side of the table. I would let some of the spray get on the top but not too much.

When it was dry I sanded off a bunch of spots on the top and in the middle. It was at this point I decided that I wanted it to look like an old crate of some kind....BUT WHAT???  I had planned on going to the graphics fairy for an old label or something, but then I remembered taking a picture of an old wine crate a while back.

So I enlarged it and put it on the table...then to add more graphic I just used my word processor and made up Chateau grand vin....(I don't even know what it means...I think it means country house of grand wine....who cares....I loved how it looked)

This is where I used my carbon paper to transfer the image...(no freezer paper transfer for this...tooo big...:(  )

Then I got to painting in. When it was dry I sanded it down again to look worn. Then I went over with some wood stain. I only did it in certain spots though. I didn't want it to look uniform. I wanted it to look worn and old.

I am IN LOVE with how it turned out. It had started out as a project to sell in my booth at CHANGING THYMES and ended up as part of my family.

My husband (who I adore at his love for all my stuff..even if it isn't the greatest) came home from work and said.."YOU CAN'T SELL THIS" "IT'S TOO COOL"

My heart melted at that. So welcome to the family champagne table....I hope you like it here. Because you fit in with this family. A little bit worn and wobbly, but beautiful to those who love you.  Have a BEAUTIFUL weekend. We have bon-fires and kids stuff planned for the weekend so I might actually get a break.  :)

Until Next time,
Go make someones day BEAUTIFUL!
