THINK SPRING! Green Vintage Waterfall Desk Painted Makeover

Hello again my Beauties!
Since SPRING refuses to show us any sign here
I have decided to bring you some spring
in the form a furniture makeover.

I picked up this vintage waterfall desk at a thrift shop
and as you can see from the picture it was in pretty bad shape.
I paid more than I normally would have
but Pickins is SLIM.
I know Waterfall style has been on the outs and people kept telling me how they
couldn't GIVE them away before but I am starting
to love the soft rounded yet angular shape of this style of furniture.
So I figured this was the best piece to use for a spring makeover.
I had no idea what I was going to do with this piece.
I sat and stared at it for a while and even asked it..
What do you want me to do with you.
It didn't answer me...OUT LOUD at least...:)
The top was the worst of the whole piece.
The finish was pretty terrible and had some weird bleached out stain.
While I waited to see what color it wanted to be I started sanding the top and
drawer fronts.
I took off the hardware, of which ONE pull was missing.
I didn't know what I wanted to do with that either.????

After sanding and staining the drawer fronts and then on a whim Spray painting the hardware and finding enough pulls for the top drawer to spray paint I finally decided
with the warm wood town and the Gold hardware that it wanted to be a nice
fun SPRINGY green.
I chose American Paint Companys NaNa's Cupboard.
I gave it a couple coats and
then waxed with clear wax.
I added a little light glaze after I buffed it to make the small details pop a little.
and THIS is how she turned out!
I love how all colors work together!
I never thought the drawer fronts would turn out that nice.

and I LOVE how the Gold worked with the wood tone and
and the bright spring green!
Now there is only ONE problem.
I can't decide if I want to sell it.
Its been sitting in my studio for over a week while I try to decide.
I have been having this problem a lot lately and I am
sure it has got to do with being stuck inside all winter.
I am sick of looking at the same furniture.
So Hopefully it warms up soon
and the hubby can stop worrying about swapping out furniture.
Don't forget to come back for the LINK party either.
Until next time;
Go make someones day Beautiful!

Peacock blue and silver Vintage glamour Goodwill Desk Makeover

Replaying this Oldie but goodie
while we finish up all our outdoor projects here at the
Art is Beauty House.
ENJOY!
Good Morning My BEAUTIES!
I am really excited about this project!
It was a spur of the moment..(cram it in before all the Holiday festivities...cause YA KNOW..I didn't have a million other things to do...:)) Kind of thing!

The hubby and I had traveled across town to go to a Christmas Party and pretty much anywhere
there is a Goodwill within a five mile radius My inner thrift alarm goes off. Well we were leaving the party and much to my chagrin, I informed the hubby that there was a Goodwill nearby..
Let me tell you he was ECSTATIC!! (are you catching the sarcasm) but being the loving husband
he is..he brought me anyway.
This Beauty was sitting there waiting for me....(more sarcasm) It was beat up..had labels stuck to it and was in need of some major TLC...

and that is what she got. The kids got asked by Grandma to help make some Christmas cookies
and I knew this was my time to work. I grabbed this new PEACOCK color by American Paint Company! I couldn't wait! I lightly sanded the whole thing,(since there had been lots of pieces of tape stuck to it) coated the top with a custom mix of CeCe Caldwells slate and some other colors and started painting the base with the Peacock!

After painting and waxing, loving how the bits of the darker blue were popping through to accent
I decided she needed a little more....shall we say...VAVAVA VOOOM ness...
So I pulled out one of my stencils and some silver paint and got to work.

I love the glamour that the small bit of stencil added to this plain desk.

I also used 3 different knobs to add a nice eclectic vintage feel to it.

I still can't believe when I look at it that it was the same  desk.

It was also another one that I was tempted to keep, but luckily for the hubby,
I had an open space that I needed to fill at the booth, so there she went.
Waiting patiently for someone to bring her home and give her, her CLOSE UP!
I hope you enjoyed this latest makeover and I hope
you are all enjoying the season. Before you know it
will be over and we will be wondering how we got it all done!
So Relax and Enjoy!
Until next time,
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

BEACHY BENCH MAKEOVER

beachy-painted-bench-makeover-art-is-beauty
Good Morning my Beauties.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
We were busy with lots of kids stuff so there was no time
to get any projects done. Luckily while we had some nice weather last
week I was able to knock out a couple makeovers.

One of them was this BENCH. It was cute enough as it was.
But the paint was in rough shape (meaning someone had spray painted it....but missed lots of spots in certain areas so it was a blotchy finish)
That didn't bother me though as I was intending to paint it anyway when I bought it.
I have been dying to try AMERICAN PAINT COMPANY'S Nana's cupboard.
I knew that this bench would be the perfect piece for it.
So I lightly painted on two thin coats and when it was dry I wet distressed it and then
waxed and buffed it.
I then reattached the seat and set her out for her PHOTO SHOOT!

I am so happy with how she turned out.
I love the freshness of the green against the old slightly faded seating.
It was another piece that my hubby was asking if we could keep for the house. (isn't he cute)
But alas we have no where for it.
So she is in my booth ready to go make her place in someone's home.

Big lots coffee table, turned LAKESHORE COTTAGE coffee table

Good Morning my Beauties!
Its Makeover Monday again so you know what that means..:)
Time for a MAKEOVER!

You can see here I started with a fake stained Cherry coffee table.
I picked this up at Goodwill for a couple bucks.
The top was severely scratched and the had lots of water marks.
Plus the legs were rather rickety.
So after securing all the legs, and sanding the top
I got started with its makeover.

I used a custom green color for the legs
and American Paint company's
HOME PLATE for the top.

While the paint dried I went to my Silhouette and cut out a fun little
Graphic for the top.
As you know from the past few posts I have been in a Beachy mood. :)
So I created this fun little LAKESHORE COTTAGES
graphic. I used some contact paper laying around and my silhouette to cut out the stencil.
I laid it on top of my table and used a custom blue paint to fill in the stencil.

What a difference some paint makes.
After all the paint was dry,
I distressed waxed and buffed the whole thing.

Now she is ready to head off to some lucky persons cottage...
:)
I hope you enjoyed the makeover.
Don't forget to come back tomorrow for the Link Party
and show me what you have been working on.
Until next time, Go make someones day BEAUTIFUL!

Good Morning My BEAUTIES!
Guess what..??? My kids are on MID WINTER BREAK!
YUP...they finally got back to school after all the Christmas Break time and Snow Days
and now they have a 6 day break.........
SOOO I again...have no idea...WHAT DAY IT IS!
:)
I normally post on Thursday..but all day Thursday I kept thinking it was Friday..
then My brain turned on for a second and I realized....Tomorrow is Friday..
So here is your post. I worked on this the other night..photographed it and forgot...LOL!

Since as I have mentioned oh so lovingly before, Our weather has been the PITS here...sub zero temps and no sun...So I of course am dreaming of the beach and our Beautiful Lake Michigan.
I decided to make some signs.
I grabbed this from my scrap pile. It was the top to an old table that was just beat to heck.
The legs did not fair well...seeing as one was missing so I popped the top off and saved it till
I needed it....LIKE NOW...:)

I grabbed some of my CeCe Caldwells Coral and painted it. (I even had the blow dryer next to it to help it dry...I am quite impatient..:))

Once the paint was dry I waxed and buffed it.
Then I went to my silhouette and cut out my vinyl stencil.
I just used regular blue craft acrylic paint to
paint it on.
While that was drying I decided to make a window too..

For this one I painted the frame with American Paint companys Peacock
and instead of a stencil I just cut out my vinyl in the same graphic and laid it on the glass.
Once the paint was dry, I pulled off my stencil and
distressed it lightly and it was good to go.

I love the colors...(they cheer up the gray grumpy girl a bit)
I hope it puts a little brightness in your day too.
Until next time.
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

FIRECRACKER RED Nightstand Painted Makeover

Good Day My BEAUTIES!
I hope the winter finds you well..
We are under another of Mother Natures Temper Tantrums
here in Michigan, so it is SNOW SNOW SNOWING....AGAIN!!
and its FREEZING!!  So much so that even the furnace
in the garage was no match.
So the next painted furniture had to be done in my kitchen.
I decided to pick a smaller piece since I was gonna be inside..
I grabbed this little nightstand out of my stash.
It was a heavy little sucker..solid wood..but as you can see,
it had been used and abused.
I got it for $5 and loved the details, but I felt they were being lost with the oak.
Thats when I decided to try out American Paint company's
FIRECRACKER RED
Can I tell you...I am in LOVE with this RED.
I filled the old holes from the outdated handles and once the filler was dry
started painting.
It is so deep and rich..its my new favorite color...(it changes daily..:))
After 2 coats of paint dried,  I was able to give her a good waxing.
I let my drill buffing brush do the distressing as it buffed the wax.
I just love how it just makes everything POP!
I added some new clean crisp White knobs to give it that classic red and white PUNCH!
I am so thrilled with how this turned out.
Now she is waiting in the shop for someone to pick her up and
bring her home!
I hope you enjoyed the latest makeover,
and until next time;
HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!
