Art is Beauty HOME~ Summer Edition

This post uses affiliate links to help you find the products I trust and love
Welcome back my Beauties.
Today's post won't be along the lines of my normal posts.
You see, here at my home, its SUMMER VACATION time.
Being from Michigan this is the time of year when we SUCK EVERY LIVING MOMENT out of the Season.
you can read more about our rescue dog SMOOCH here
In a place where we are trapped for months at a time in a mountain of snow and gray clouds we tend to go to extremes in the spring and summer.
We know it can't last forever so we make the most of the time we have before Old Man Winter
starts turning his head toward us again.
That being said this is a post to let you know that I will STILL be showing you projects, (all though not as frequent) and still be around on FACEBOOK and Instagram showing those projects, but also showing what we are doing to suck the life out of SUMMER.
Now every year we take a big hiking trip and last year we did Acadia National Park.
I NEVER got around to showing you.
I feel terrible because the plan had been to post about it when we got back.
But life happened. We got busy. I forgot!  :) ...(more of the latter than anything) :)
So in the next few days I will showing you some tips on how get around Acadia.
Which you can NOW see Here!!
Tips on navigating Acadia national park maine bar harbour

(If you have never been, its one of the MOST Beautiful National Parks, but also one of the CRAZIEST to get through) I have tons of tips for how to navigate this BEAUTIFUL but BUSY park and town.
You see out NEXT hiking trip is in 3 weeks and that is what reminded me that I never showed you.
So hopefully I will be a little better and maybe have some tips for Glacier National Park written up this summer too. (Or maybe at least a post with pretty pictures like I did for Ireland)

Anniversary trip to Ireland

We tend to even DIY our vacations so I figure this fits right in with the whole DIY theme and the sites we see are some of the most BEAUTIFUL, which fits right with my Art is Beauty theme as well.
So if you want to virtually suck the life out of summer like we do, be sure to follow along.
Until tomorrow,
Have a Beautiful Day!

Monday Morning MAHEM!

Good Morning my Beauties!
I have NOTHING new to show you today..
Its not that I haven't been doing anything...
Its that we have been doing EVERYTHING.
I can show you all the stuff I have been working on.
But I have no EDITED pictures to show you.
This will be instead a snap shot into the life of a Mom/Artist/DIY'r/Blogger/??????
I am sure there are more but my brain is clapping the last remaining brain cells together, trying to create a spark....but I think they are SHOT...:) LOL
So Instead I will show you what we have been up to the last few weeks here at the ART IS BEAUTY
Home.
But Before I begin let you remind you of WHY we are so busy right now..
Remember this LONG COLD UNENDING WINTER we had in Michigan..
oh you don't????
Let me remind you....

This...This is why we CRAM so much into our too small summer...
Remember we were pretty much frozen from here to Wisconsin...
If someone really wanted we could have walked
from Michigan across the lake to Wisconsin...
So once the snow melts...we have to become MACHINES..
Getting as many Outdoor projects done as is humanly possible..
before this comes rearing its ugly head back around.

As soon as the snow melts and its warm enough to work outside;
ITS GO TIME!!!!!
So basically since the end of the school year we have been busting our bottoms
to get our projects done.
From my usual Booth stuff.
Of which we opened an addition to the store so I moved my booth
This was the new space I moved into a couple weeks ago..
Then we had to re roof the shed...
Of course we picked the hottest week to work on it..
We snuck in a much needed awesome wonderful amazing vacation to Colorado
with lots of family time and lots of hiking..
cause you know; who wants to relax on vacation....???
BUT with any vacation you must pay the piper..
as soon as we got home (driving 18 hours straight through from Colorado to Michigan)
It was back in the saddle again.
Day one back and I was working like mad to play CATCH UP for the booths..painting and filling.
Trying to get as much done as possible before the BIG HUGE
LOOMING project started......
DUN DUN DUN......................... can you hear the impending horror music.
It was time to PAINT THE WHOLE house.

This is hubby..up on the roof...
we have aluminum siding....
we had to powerwash...TSP and rinse the whole thing before we could even start..
That alone took 3 days....
Then FINALLY I could start painting...
and that is when I pretty much MOVED into Lowes...
Picking paint...then picking door paint...then...oh not gonna buy new shutters..
just gonna paint the old ones.....BACK TO LOWES...
And here is close to where we stand right now..
I managed to paint the bottom front of the house in one day...
the back and sides will take much longer..
and then all the doors and shutters....
So NOW you know
what we have been up to.
If you see me lying face down in the grass...please don't wake me..
It means either I fell of the ladder and I am taking and unexpected nap..
or I am playing dead so I don't have to paint anymore...:)
I know it will be worth it...
I at least keep telling myself that..;
that and the fact that the hubby and I have both agreed we will NEVER
do this again...so apparently our neighbors better like the color of our house
cause they are gonna be looking at it for the next 30 years or so...

I hope you enjoyed this snap shot into our lives of lately..
(crazy is pretty much the norm around here anyway, so its not that far off from our
usual level of insanity)
And I hope you will come back and see the results of all our hard work.
I promise to be back with furniture makeovers crafts and artwork,
but it may be a bit.
So until next time;
go make someones day BEAUTIFUL!

Graphics Fairy Sea Horse "life is better" Magazine Rack Makeover

T

Since its THURSDAY, I thought I would THROW BACK with this OLD post~!

Good Morning my Beauties...I hope you all had a fun, safe and relaxing
Holiday Weekend.
We had lots and lots of family time and finally by Sunday
we had a day to do NOTHING!
Well I guess I shouldn't say nothing since I did work on a project
but NOTHING in the sense that there was NOTHING on the schedule so
I could work..LOL

I worked on this cute little table. I have NO before pics of this cute Magazine Rack table
because honestly I had just planned on painting it and selling it without too much todo..
but once I got it to this point I decided with the color and the top having a weathered wood look
that it needed just a little more....ART-IS-BEAUTY-FYING if you know what I mean..:)

So I was trying to decide on something beachy and fun with the colors.
I had recently seen on the GRAPHICS FAIRY this cute little Sea Horse.
I Imported him into my Silhouette program and traced and cut it out and just duplicated it and flipped it to create a mirror image. I then added another "life is better at the beach" file I already had in my
Library.

Using my contact paper I cut out the stencil with my silhouette and placed
the stencil on the table top.

Painted on my graphic....

and VOILA!!! Life is better at the beach Magazine rack Makeover.
I am pretty thrilled with how this turned out. I
hope you enjoyed this Monday Makeover!
Have a BEAUTIFUL day!

Sea Horse Silhouette Pallet Art

Hello my Beauties~! I hope you are doing well!
I have been working on lots of SMALL projects
since this is the slow season right now for selling
big pieces of furniture.
I am loving making Pallet signs because it costs me almost nothing to make
besides my time and SANITY..LOL!

I have been wanting to BEACH up my mantle and so I started by cutting some pallet boards. I cut them the same length and using two boards on the back screwed into them to hold it together.
(while I am at it...since the summer only gets busier..if you want to follow me on INSTAGRAM...
you can get a sneak preview of my projects before they even make it to a blog post...
You can follow me at ..http://instagram.com/arttisbeauty )

I then white washed (and blue washed) the boards to give them an old beachy feel.

I then went to my SILHOUETTE program and picked the sea horse graphic. I blew it up to the size I wanted and cut my vinyl stencil. I laid the stencil on the pallet board and voila..
I had my sea horses!

and here it sits on my mantle; With the Coral I bought at Goodwill. (didn't want anyone thinking I stole it from some reef or something)

A quick and easy way to SUMMER up a mantle!
I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day!
