Super Easy "HELLO" Spring Pallet Art

 Welcome back my Beauties!

Spring is right around the corner (even though we have snow in our forecast for later this week).

I am in a Spring Decor Mode so I thought I would show you one of the SIMPLEST ways to make some fun spring pallet art.

First of all, grab some pallets. 

(If you don't have pallets you can always buy boards from the home store,

but you all know how much I love to rescue free stuff)

Lay out your pieces how you want them and then screw some brackets in the back

I just used my cordless black and decker drill to screw in my supports.

 

Once that is done, flip it over and give it a light wash of paint.

I chose a fresh light blue.

When its dry I lightly sanded the whole thing to give it a distressed finish.

 

Here is where the super duper easy part comes in.

See that little wood cut out "hello".

Its from the dollar spot at Target.

It was $3

I was looking at it and literally said to myself

 "HELLO, this is awesome!"

 I threw that sucker in my cart and brought it home.

I grabbed my Ryobi Airstrike Nailer 

and popped a couple nails in it and it was good to go.

(if you don't have a nailer you could easily use some heavy duty glue or even use a regular hammer and nails)

Once secured to the pallet I gave the "hello" a quick little dry brushing to give it a little more interest and my "HELLO" spring pallet was ready for my mantle.

 I have to tell you, this was probably the EASIEST project I have ever done. It literally took me about

10 minutes not counting dry time.

I just love it on my mantle with my Easter bunny bunting from the same dollar spot at Target.

Up Cycled Christmas Reindeer Pallet Art

Good Morning my Beauties!
I just have a quick second to show you a little bit of Christmas Pallet Art
that I made yesterday.

While working on about 6 other projects in the garage yesterday, I
decided to knock out a couple of these.
I had old pallet boards that my hubby had cup up this summer.
I wouldn't let him burn them because I knew I would use them for something.
Well while I was in the garage I decided to screw a couple of them together and
use some fun little Christmas stencils I had laying around
I used some red paint and did a couple reindeer and then "Merry Christmas"

I really wish the pictures turned out better but it has been cloudy and dark here for the
last couple days, so this is the best I could do.

I thought they made a fun little rustic decoration for Christmas.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hopefully will be TRULY decorating
for Christmas on Friday. I got everything out, but it is all still sitting in the boxes in the basement.

Beautiful French Pallet Art

 

Reposting since we are on spring break!

This is a fun easy project that you can do to make

some new decor for your home.

 Good Morning My BEAUTIES! 

I am sooooo Jonesing for spring I can hardly stand it anymore...

I have so many pieces of FURNITURE I want to paint..but as usual this Michigan winter has been 

Relentless; and even with my furnace in the garage I would not be able to get a good 

dry time for the furniture. So Instead, I have been working on some smaller pieces..

Well one day last week I decided I wanted to work on making some signs for my booth.

 

Well Working on signs, meant I had to trek on out to the shed, for my wood pile.

YEAH...THIS is what I looked like when I came back in...Some spots were waist high....

But I was determined to get some work done..(oh I forgot to mention..I needed one more extra piece and had to go back in it again about 5 minutes later...:)) LUCKY ME...:) 

Once I had come in and Changed my pants...:)  I started arranging my wood pallet boards. (I had to quick take them outside to the miter saw to get them equal lengths) I used 2 firing stips to attach the boards all together.

Once that was done, I started with a light wash of paint. I had some leftover custom paint from another project and used up just a tiny bit to give it this old worn finish that would be perfect.

Now you remember I just did a dresser that I fell so in love with that I ended up keeping for myself HERE...and I loved the graphic so much that I decided it would be perfect for some pallet art.
So I grabbed my MORE THAN WORDS stencil made from a GRAPHICS FAIRY graphic.
I started laying down my paint and couldn't be happier with the chic yet rustic way it turned out.
When all the paint was dry, I waxed and buffed the whole thing. I tell you what; If I hadn't kept the dresser...I WOULD have KEPT this sign!! I don't know what it is about the colors and the graphic that just pull me in EVERY TIME!

Use what you have Pallet wood Santa Art.

Hello my Beauties!

I have a fun little Christmas Craft for you today.

As I am sure you know,

I tend to collect lots and lots of wood scraps.

You never know when you are gonna need a good piece of wood for 

something.

Why I once picked up a bookcase out of the trash and dismantled it to

build a back for another piece of furniture.

You can see that HERE

But SOMETIMES....

They are just bits and scraps..

and you start to wonder 

if you should just let the hubby burn them in the fire pit.

:)

Then inspiration hits....(SORRY HUBBY)

Here were the scraps I had..I piece of pallet wood...an old piece of stripping left over from 

another project and a small piece of pine left over from another project.

Now I could have made a sign or something out of the pine, but I wasn't feeling it.

Ya Know what I mean VERN....:)  (sorry little flash back there) LOL

and then it hit me.

SANTA!!!!  I KNOW HIM!!!!

Now I wanted this to be rustic since it was scrap wood

and my no means was going for perfection.

So I just quickly painted my board with a red craft paint.

Once that was painted I measured my other boards and cut them to the side I needed 

for Santa's belt and coat front.

I screwed my pallet wood on and then painted.

But for the coat front I wanted to give it a little something EXTRA.

Before my Mom left for Florida she gave me a bunch of old hardware she had laying around her condo that she had never used.

She is like me. She saw them on clearance and thought..I should buy these in case I need them.

She didn't but gave them to me...:)  I didn't know what I was going to do with them

until now.

I drilled holes for the BUTTONS on Santa's coat and counter sunk the knobs to make them look like buttons.

Screwing them in from the back just like you would a drawer knob.

Once those were in I just painted on the black belt and painted a gold buckle on his belt.

 and there you have. A super simple..

Use what you have,

Scrap wood and pallet wood Santa Art.

Nothing crazy but fun non the less.

It was a nice break from the usual stuff 

and hubby although mad about not getting to burn the wood

is happy to see my stash get a little bit smaller!

French Chicken/Rooster Pallet Art

I am working in my garage like crazy on some Christmas Pallet projects,
so I thought I would res share some quick and easy pallet art that you can do.

Well Hello my BEAUTIES...
I have decided to "EMBRACE" my "crazy chicken lady"
personality with this post.
I don't know what it is about the feathered creature that I just love for a kitchen;
maybe its from my French heritage, or the fact that when I put my hands on my hips and yell at
my kids I look like a pecking chicken..LOL..
But for some reason they have a place in my heart/kitchen...:)

I have long held to the standard that I only allow 5 chicken/rooster pieces in my kitchen at one time..
but I have fought for too long...and the chicken has won...(there is just too much vintage chicken stuff)
So for my wall I decided to make myself some wall decoration...What's ONE MORE CHICKEN...???
I went out to my pallet wood pile...(you know that lovely stash that my husband hates...that "I NEED THAT" pile, that he so YEARNS to BURN)

Yeah..that pile...and I screwed some boards together to create my base.
I slapped on a thin wash of blue and white paint to give it that old barn wood look.

I then went to my silhouette and cut out my chicken and the French word "le Coq"

I transferred the pieces to my boards and painted them in with some CeCe Caldwells
Vintage white.

When it was all said and done, I gave it a coat of wax and buffed it.

It now hangs on the wall keeping watch over all the other poultry in my kitchen..
